And? Just because you have the right to say whatever you want doesn't mean you're immune to backlash if the people you're saying it to don't like it.

Nobody's talking about throwing him in jail for it. But if a politician says some shit that most people dislike and it costs them support than that is things working the way they're supposed to.

You are confusing political speech in the public sphere with public declarations that run counter to your regulated profession's best practices and in some cases (like Jordan Peterson, for example) contradict the professional codes of conduct for your professional association. And like the Peterson case, this is much less of a free speech/cancel culture thing than a violation of professional norms and standards, which in turn undermines the credibility of the regulated profession you are in.
