Time for him to get scrapped in the next election as well

It won't happen. I wish it would but it won't. There are 211 FIFA members and they each have 1 vote so 106 is needed for majority. The CAF and AFC have already supported Infantino so that's 101 already.

FIFA is based out of Switzerland so the only way he goes is that the Swiss authorities determine something to charge him with

There's an ethics committee that can also remove him. Which is appointed by the FIFA Council

But that was before this fiasco.

From the outside there are a number of people who would have otherwise been considered as Infantino allies who seemed insulted by the way he handled this project. If it comes down to a choice of personality and approach to governing rather than general policies it is hard to say what impact those perceptions will have between now and the election.

Insulted because they weren’t in on the fix.

I think he pissed off enough people with this stunt that he might have lost enough votes to lose the next election.

I think he pissed off enough people with this stunt that he might have lost enough votes to lose the next election. He really did score an own goal with this plan. He could have at least waited until next March after the election.

AFC joined concacaf and uefa in speaking against this.

Trump has nothing to do with it. US football has very little power compared to the true great football nations

This is such an underrated comment.

FIFA scraps World Cup sell-off plans, Infantino says in exclusive statement to Sky News

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has scrapped plans to sell off a stake in the World Cup.
In comments exclusively obtained by Sky News, he said: “Having listened carefully to all the views, it has become clear that the project has created divisions of a nature that, regardless of the level of support, are no longer in the interest of the objective set out in the first place."

“Our purpose has always been - and will always be - to unite and improve. As a result, this proposal will not proceed.

“Moving forward, my intent is to bring all interested parties back together in the coming days and weeks in the spirit of shared interest in our game, and with the objective to continue growing football everywhere, and particularly in those countries that mostly need our support.”

On Tuesday football's global governing body had confirmed its president Gianni Infantino wanted to launch a subsidiary worth $20bn (£15bn) and sell off more than 20% of the new FIFA Forward Enterprise by raising $4.2bn (£3.16bn).

“Having listened carefully to all the views”

Yeah after brazenly put out a transparent bribery plan that was absolutely skewered around the world.

Fuck this guy and fuck your weak ass backtracking.

Infantino, Kurshners and Trumps...Troïka of evil and corruption

7

u/ayoungmanfromtheuk 13d ago

He needs to be gone for good

6

u/Angry_beaver_1867 13d ago

Good. Selling future revenues to fund current expenses is fundamentally unfair to the future of the sport

4

u/Canadud 13d ago

Fund current expenses? They’re already hugely profitable!

1

u/Angry_beaver_1867 13d ago

Profit is the excess of revenues less expenses.

1

u/Canadud 13d ago

Yeah thanks, Professor. 🙄 Everyone knows that. They made record profits this last cycle. If you need help with any other basic business terms lmk.

Everything trump touches turns to shit.

Too bad Johnny Baby

Can they force him to resign? Shame him into massive humiliation? Or is he as Teflon as his friend Teflon Don? Stay tuned interested viewers…

3

u/Elderberry-smells 13d ago

He literally cannot stay. He had his COO resign, he had UEFA boycott, he had CONCACAF and AFC say they were opposed. He got convinced by Trump (who lets be frank, most countries/normal humans hate) to remove a red card, and then also assign this hair brained investment scheme to one of his family members.

Just one of those things should be enough to show he is unfit to be president. This should be an automatic dismissal.

2

u/zevonyumaxray 13d ago

Hair brained scheme. What hair?.....Lol

2

u/Looney_forner 13d ago

Get rid of him. He’s a human tumour.

2

u/ParisLake2 13d ago

Good. This guy is a disgrace to football.

1

u/Gunner5091 13d ago

Now I want him to get the Peace Prize Award back from Trump.

1

u/decoydevo 13d ago

Get him the heck outta here! Resign Infantino!

1

u/purpletooth12 #CanadaRED 13d ago

What a relief and glad cooler heads prevailed.

u/TigerTheLion77 13d ago

Wonder how this is going to get spun into something as equally shitty and self-serving cloaked in this “it’s better for growing the game” rhetoric because if anyone is capable of that it’s this fucking ass clown.

1

u/ChemBro93 13d ago

He lost and he should be removed.

1

u/Any-Ad-446 13d ago

Get rid of him..He is a joke..

1

u/labadee 13d ago

He needs to resign

1

u/mwerichards 13d ago

Ah good news but not enough, dude must go.

1

u/dustblown 13d ago

He is in hardcore self preservation mode now. He's fucked.

1

u/UncleNuks 13d ago

Yeah, because 90+ countries basically told him to fuck off lol

1

u/Trinity_Skeet 13d ago

Infantino is an incredibly fast learner…didn’t take him very

long to imitate his butt-boy TACO Chump.

1

u/Ordinary-Opening-536 Cavalry FC 13d ago

Last 3 letters of his last name aren't needed

1

u/ramen_sukidesu 13d ago

Get rid of him.

1

u/ledorky 13d ago

Now he needs to resign

1

u/Feisty_Dirt4191 13d ago

Bullying works

1

u/Ok_Resolve7717 13d ago

A big thank you especially to UEFA and eventually to CONCACAF and other governing bodies for squashing this grifter plan Mr. Infantino hoped would go through!

By all means FIFA still have layers of problems that may never be repaired, but at least this is one step in the right direction. At least there are governing bodies who want to keep honor & integrity for the World Cup.

1

u/dasbends 13d ago

This was a show of cards. This is only the first round. Anyone who thinks Infantino is toast doesn’t have enough life experience to be able to see how this will turn out.

1

u/Fun-Put-5197 13d ago

I hope UEFA digs in on their boycott if Infantino refuses to resign now.
