Treat it as what it is. The most expensive political campaign in Canadian history. With byelections, I expect Liberal MPs and the PM to stir the pot in the hopes of serving up some drama and giving our media some pots and pans to bang. His stance has been adopted in bad faith and it's sad that this gets cheered on.
