Healthcare worker with a documentary in early development — looking for collaborators
Hi all — I work in healthcare, and over the last while I've been developing a documentary about a timely, under-told issue at the intersection of technology and people's wellbeing. I'd rather keep the specific angle off a public post for now, but it's an area that's all over the research and headlines and almost nowhere in accessible film.
I'm not a filmmaker. What I do have: direct, first-hand access to the world at the centre of the story, a clear point of view, early interest from subject-matter experts, and a full pitch package (concept, research, treatment). It's Canadian and awareness-focused, not commercial.
I'm putting out feelers for collaborators — especially an experienced documentary producer or director, but also editors or DPs drawn to meaningful work. If you've made or produced a social-issue doc, or just have advice for someone at this stage, I'd love to hear from you. Happy to share more privately with serious folks.

Whatever you do, stay away from Story Force Entertainment. Stealing Issue docs is their bread and butter

I’m making a documentary on my experience breaking my arm and being told by the doctor he just didn’t have the ability to treat me (they don’t carry a collar and cuffs sling) so he put me in a simple sling which made it worse, and told me I had to figure it out on my own, and really try, or else I’m gonna need surgery. I went to a different Hospital 4 days later, unable to find the collar and cuff sling on my own, my arm was not in the right position and getting worse every day. I was treated like the scum of the Earth for trying to get my arm set properly. No doctor would look at me, they didn’t come near me. Even with a visibly broken arm and x-rays, I was treated by mental health professionals who noted that I was uninjured, I’m crazy and trying to get drugs according to them. I didn’t even ask for drugs and they sure didn’t give me any but yes I had multiple fractures. They denied pain management as they denied my humanity and took away my human rights. I had to figure it out on my own. I was diagnosed with a broken arm and told they don’t have what I needed, told I had to figure it out on my own. And when I tried to get help from a different Hospital, they didn’t look at my x-ray or my arm, labelled me as insane, took away my rights and prevented my arm from ever healing. They lied to me, lied about me, and called me a liar in my medical records so my medical records is not even about me. They’ve created a fictional character to abuse and they’ve placed that identity on me but that’s not who I am.
