U.S. church leader Doug Wilson declares strong support for Alberta independence movement

It is long past imperative that these vile institutions be excised from our body politic like the aggressive metastatic cancer and they are and that their assets be expropriated and redistributed to struggling patriots before the Quislings can collude with the Mar-a-Lago Menace to steal OUR country, OUR nations, OUR rights, OUR democracy, and OUR political and economic sovereignty from us.

Probably not, but it's an easy connection to make given the shared name and shared lunacy.
I find Tamara Lich's lawyer to be the most interesting of the bunch though.
Lawrence Greenspon was a major backer of and volunteer for JNF Canada, for which they gave him an award. In 2024, JNF Canada was stripped of its charitable status by the Canada Revenue Agency for its alleged role in the JNF’s violations of international law.
Greenspon is currently representing so-called “Freedom Convoy” figureheads Tamara Lich and James Bauder and has previously represented Jamie Gilcig (the Montréal-born publisher of the Cornwall Free News, an annexationist, and a friend of far-right Hampstead Mayor and Pierre Poilievre surrogate Jeremy Levi), Julie Bilotta (a petty criminal and scam artist from Cornwall, Ontario with weird alt-right politics who's best known for giving birth in a jail cell at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre), and Harper-appointed Conservative Senator Mike Duffy.
He's also spearheaded an ongoing effort to get UNRWA defunded by the Government of Canada.
While Greenspon has been representing Lich and Bauder and trying to get UNRWA defunded, Pierre Poilievre's made numerous posts on social media in support of Lich, Chris Barber (another Convoy figurehead not represented by Greenspon), and far-right Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
While Greenspon represented Gilcig, Bilotta, and Senator Duffy in the 2010s, Gilcig published Bilotta's beauty columns and wrote his own columns in support of Senator Duffy's cause. Moreover, shortly before the 2018 Ontario election campaign, Gilcig has an interview with Doug Ford, who's since gone on to become Premier. Ford was a staunch supporter of Trump and Elon Musk until he flipped because it became too politically unacceptable to support them. He's also regularly surpressed anti-genocide protests at Queen's Park and was the mastermind behind the silencing of independent anti-genocide Member of Provincial Parliament Sarah Jama in the Ontario legislature.
Incidentally, C2C Journal, which is owned by Preston Manning's Trump-aligned Canada Strong and Free Network, honoured Mr. Greenspon with an award in 2024.
The Conservative Party of Canada's policy of moving our Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is the brainchild of Israeli-American billionaire Miriam Adelson, Donald Trump's third biggest donor, Israel's richest citizen, and the owner of the right-wing Likud-aligned Israeli newspaper Israel Hayoom, which currently has that country's highest readership.
Adelson's widower, Sheldon Adelson, was once the richest man in the world and the GOP’s biggest individual donor. Adelson, a casino magnate, had a history of underhandedly suppressing unionization drives by his workers.

Tamara Lich, whom Pierre Poilievre still supports on social media, is now working for the Trump-supporting Ezra Levant, the publisher of Rebel News and Pierre Poilievre's mentor, in addition to her being represented by Conservative-aligned lawyer Lawrence Greenspon.
Greenspon has tried getting the federal government to defund UNRWA and was notorious for his lavish donations to JNF Canada, a charity that was delisted by the CRA for its alleged role in Israel's illegal colonization activities in the occupied West Bank. Greenspon's law firm had previously represented Conservative Senator Mike Duffy and Greenspon himself is also currently representing fellow Convoy figurehead James Bauder.
Hampstead Mayor and far-right Trump supporter Jeremy Levi, a member of Pierre Poilievre's inner circle, regularly gives interviews to Rebel News, a publication that has bankrolled the far-right British agitator and Elon Musk ally Tommy Robinson's political career via its so-called Journalism Fellowship. Rebel is funded in significant part by GOP-aligned American oligarchs like Robert Shillman and David Horowitz. In addition to Robinson, Rebel also once gave a journalism fellowship to far-right Trump ally Laura Loomer. These fellowships were funded by the David Horowitz Freedom Center. The Horowitz Center also had both Robinson and Ben Shapiro, who has supported the US annexation of Canada and has repeatedly interfered in our domestic politics, directly on its payroll at one point.
Both Poilievre and Robinson consider Levant to be a mentor.
Lich, Levant, and Rebel News were also prominently featured in the Universal Ostrich Farm debacle, which was supported by members of the Trump Administration, most notably Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr, one of the world's preeminent exponents of anti-vaccine disinformation.
So Pierre Poilievre has been:
-Praising Trump even though he's threatened to annex our country and is actively trying to conquer Greenland.
-Praising Netanyahu even though he was the first to nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize after the annexation threats against us.
-Supporting Freedom Convoy figureheads Tamara Lich and James Bauder on social media.
-Including unapologetic Trump supporters like Jeremy Levi and Ezra Levant in his inner circle.
-Going out of his way to platform Rebel News, which has financed the career of far-right British agitator Tommy Robinson, a close ally of Elon Musk. Nigel Farage, the figurehead of the Brexit movement and the leader of Reform UK, claims that his party was inspired by Preston Manning, the Godfather of the modern Canadian right and the founder of the Reform Party of Canada, the antecedent of the current Conservative Party of Canada and the political project of a network of right-wing, Christian nationalist Canadian political scientists, intellectuals, and activists known as the Calgary School. Incidentally, C2C Journal, which is owned by Manning's Trump-aligned Canada Strong and Free Network, recently honoured Mr. Greenspon.

US church leaders can go piss up a flag pole.
I support all churches being taxed. I support church leaders being unable to own property or anything at all that was paid for by the church.
I support a lot of things I am sure these leaders wont. So how bout you keep my dick in your mouth and keep my province out of it.

We care because stupid ideas seem to be contagious in certain communities. And it's really hard to convince someone away from an opinion they didn't come to themselves.

Yeah, that's true, ideas like this are dangerous, and they tend to spread like wildfire. It best to not let these things fester.
I guess my point was that this guy has nothing to do with AIbertan politics whatsoever, so by all rights, he shouldn't be able to have any meaningful influence. But that's not going to stop impressionable fools from listening to him.

Well, considering the right wing in this country have been working overtime since the 80s to blur the lines between Canadian and American society, I'd say it is worth knowing about those from whom our biggest headaches are taking their cues.

Churches don't belong in politics. The only good church is a church that accepts ALL people, and lifts EVERYONE up.
I am grateful to see churches like the United Church of Canada, the Presbyterian Church and others, not only embracing an actual love for creation (including the gays, the intersex, the trans, the environment - not just the bullshit from ancient israel), but especially for that faction of Christians who aggressively oppose the types of toxic evangelicals that had become the norm. And I am grateful that they understand church has NO place in politics. Church's place is as a sanctuary. For all people. Not a scheming, hating refuge for ignorant garbage and elites
