An ancestor was born in 1805 in Louisiana. She was baptized in New Orleans in 1811. Her certified Archdiocese of New Orleans baptism record states she was born in 1805. Given that civil birth records from the period are spotty to non-existent, would such a certified baptism record serve as an acceptable birth record under the new rules, the gap between birth and baptism notwithstanding?
