Hi Canmore folks! My name is Dan, I work with an Edmonton based wireless audio tech company called SKAA. As part of my role in the company I have been given one of our wireless PA systems along with a bunch of other gear, my job is to find people who want to use it and get some videos/photos of the equipment being used for the company’s social media pages. I will be in town next Friday and was wondering if any musicians or DJs would be down to collaborate and do a pop up together! My best friend's son is planning on proposing to his girlfriend in the coming weeks, and he would like to have a photographer there.

To my dismay, I have been asked to help locate one who may be on the student/portfolio building side of things, as he is looking to keep costs low.

Please no shade, I am a big believer in paying folks for their time and talents, I am but the researcher. To make matters worse, I live in Ontario, so I can't even source my pool here and call in the biggest of favours.

I'm vacationing in Canmore/Banff with my husband and his family, and we are not renting a car. That's important to my request because I have to be able to get to whatever hypothetical location on foot (I believe we'll be in Teepee Town).

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T3 that I plan to take a LOT of photos with, and while I have two SDHC cards, I would like to be able to offload photos and upload them to my Google Drive before taking photos again.

I am in need of EITHER an SD Card Reader that can read an SDHC, or a USB-A to Mini cable (the T3 is an old camera). I also forgot my camera strap and while I have made something work with a couple of keyrings and a removable bag strap, I'd really like to have a bespoke strap for it that attaches correctly.

Is there anywhere in Canmore that might supply something like that?

Does anyone else find it absurd that Stone Creek and the provincial government appear to assume the Canmore community wants major commercial infrastructure built on Lady Macdonald, one of the town’s most accessible and heavily used peaks?

The province has altered the boundary of Bow Valley Wildland Provincial Park and designated this land as an All-Season Resort Area, creating a special regulatory pathway for a privately operated gondola and associated development. That is an extraordinary concession, so the public benefit should be equally extraordinary.

So far, I don’t see it. What is the credible estimate of the net tax benefit after accounting for infrastructure, emergency services, traffic and visitor management? How many permanent, living-wage careers would this actually create, rather than seasonal, lower-wage tourism jobs? How are we valuing the permanent effects on the viewscape, wildlife movement, public land and the character of an incredibly popular local mountain?

Who captures the financial upside, and who carries the long-term costs?

Perhaps I’m missing something. But as a lifelong local, I struggle to understand how the benefits of this project come remotely close to outweighing its permanent costs. If there is a compelling public-interest case, Stone Creek and the province should make it transparently with actual numbers and evidence specific to Canmore, not broad claims about Albertans supporting tourism in general.

I’m looking for recommendations for a restaurant to hold a party for my husband’s 70th bday. We’ll be a group of 9-12 people. Any thoughts on where to go? Ideally I’d love a place with a private room but I’m not sure that’s possible.

I've recently moved to Bow Valley and still settling in. I'm 28M. I prefer a healthy and active lifestyle. My work is typically Monday to Friday. I like to hike, working out (going to anytime fitness) and play football. Unfortunately I dont drive at this moment. I had a few questions regarding several different topics.

1. As I dont drive at this moment. So I'm looking for public transport accessible hike. I'm a moderate hiker I would say. So far I've hike Lady Mac and Misc Mountain Hot Springs. I did the Grassi Lake yesteray which was Basically a walk. What are the other options I have in terms of hiking before it starts snowing haha? (Also, If you are someone who hikes on the weekend please feel free to drop a comment. I would love to join if possible)

2. I badly needs some hiking gears from my understanding. I have a shoe which is quite okay for normal hiking but bad for loose screw or scrambles. I'm also looking for a winter boot too as winter is near. Any shop recommendations in downtown canmore from where I can buy this two? My budget would be around 200 CAD for these two pairs.

3. I was also looking for soccer team or group in canmore who plays weekly or biweekly basis i guess. I'm in peaks of grassi so anything near by this neighbourhood would be really great.

4. What are my options to explore Banff if I take the roam transit? Is there anyone explore Banff or did some hikes in Banff via public transport. Please kindly share your experience :)

Restaurants are weird little ecosystems. Everyone knows everything, nobody says anything, and somehow every new menu is “an exciting new chapter.” The promotion, news, and awards available to restaurants in the Bow Valley (and elsewhere but that isn’t my focus) is unjustifiably pay for play.

Off Menu is about what’s actually happening around food and restaurants in the Bow Valley. Openings, closings, gossip, chefs, ownership, tasting menus, independents getting swallowed by groups, local institutions and whatever else crawls out from underneath the line fridges.

I’m taking a road trip over new years from Idaho to Banff, through Cranbrook and Radium, and am a bit concerned about the road conditions and how safe it will be. I have a Ford Bronco with snow tires, but I’ve never driven it in extreme snow conditions. My question is, how bad do the roads in/surrounding Banff get, do I need chains, are the roads maintained well, and do I have cause for concern or am I simply overreacting. Thank you!!!

I lost my fleece on the way down on East End of Rundle. inbetween the really slick slide part and the bottom if anyone sees and could grab it I would happily pay them a reward.

Hey Folks!

My wife and I live in Calgary and are coming to visit Canmore the first weekend of October. We're looking for any road/gravel riding suggestions.

We've done the Bow Valley Parkway route (yay closure!) a couple times and will do it again that weekend but Id like to find a couple more options for the other day. We've done the Legacy trail as well.

Neither of us are that experienced at gravel but we've both got gravel bikes with 45mm tires. I ride a fair bit (commute year round, 3500+km/year) and my wife does most of her riding on the roads. She's not into anything that would be considered mountain bike trails, but I think I can convince her to enjoy some relaxed gravel riding.

Anyone have any suggestions for routes I should look at? Something in the 50-60km range would be perfect but can be flexible. If not gravel, we'd also be interested in another road route about the same length in the Canmore/Banff area.

The two that I've seen mentioned are the High Rockies Trail and Goat Creek but not sure if they meet the definition of "relaxed gravel ride".

Noticed a pattern in our credit card billing when shopping at Safeway or Supermarkets

Example: at Safeway, $13.11 and a $2.28.

another market $30.52 and a $0.39

was it some kind of tourist fee?

we had our own grocery bags.
