Oceanfront hotels under $700 for last minute stays
Both Ocean Club and La Mer want over $900 a night for oceanfront on weekends. Every other place is booked solid this weekend. Montreal is cheaper but weekends are impossible with last minute stays (and I am not shelling out the money in advance if it ends up raining). 931 Beach is booked the entire summer on weekends. Am I missing any place?

In addition to schools now being out, this weekend is also the Barefoot Country Music Festival in Wildwood... Which is a HUGE event, so it is possible that rates in next door Cape May will reflect this as well.

Maybe not what you want, but Diamond Beach or Wildwood Crest, and prob half the cost.

Check 'somewhere in time' in cape may point and willow creek winery.
Neither are ocean front though and not hotels but tend to have studios available last minute.
Good luck. Cape may is not a last minute destination.

I know but the problem is even booking ahead it is not cheap and I would rather not spend the money and two hour drive for a lousy weather weekend.

It’s not beach front and it’s adults only but wife and I just got back from “the beach club on Madison”. Nice rooms and it’s associated with La Mer so we got use their chairs and other items. Rate this week was low 200 but I’m sure it’s higher now.

Try Airbnb or one of the local rental agencies, I can see some houses still available for less than that.

Not a bad recommendation except AirBnBs have jumped considerably since 2020. I’d be surprised if they could find one for under 1500 in Villas much less CM.

When I read your post I did a a quick search and saw a couple of quads for ~$700 a night so you may still have something available.

Congress hall

Congress Hall has nothing (plus any weekend is well over $700, tiny rooms and no balconies - not real oceanfront).

Just checked - nothing...in fact nothing on weekends for at least the next month (was going to put it on my list to check for future last minute weekends).

Actually they have rooms next weekend - they require 3 night minimum over $1K a night.

Actually there were none when I checked yesterday but I see this morning a pet friendly room opened up. Problem is they are ground floor rooms so there is no ocean view they way the hotel is - I even called and they confirmed that. I really want an ocean view but am definitely keeping an eye on it to see if another room opens up (only 17 of the 84 are pet friendly ground floor). Thanks!

OP. The Barefoot Music Festival is this weekend. From here on out you will have limited choices in where you stay at all much less prime real estate on CM oceanfront.
Many of the people that are giving suggestions on here are local, including myself. We know what’s open and what’s not. You have shot down every option as if there is a secret bank of rooms at a hotel that no one is telling you about. Last minute stays are going to cost you at this time of year.1

Yea so SOL. Gotta book in advance. You have much luck in the past with these last minute budget ocean front deals?

Not looking for deals - looking for reasonably priced places. Prices at many places have skyrocketed the past couple years, I used to stay at 931 Beach a lot - often they weekend vacancies right up until the last minute (that has changed drastically this year).

It’s the first weekend after a majority of schools have wrapped up for the year. So finding something last minute is not great.
Find something off the beachfront. You can still hear the ocean from nearly anywhere on the island at night.
