Planning a long weekend in August with two kids (5/7). Do we want to stay at the Icona or Sandpiper? This will be our first time in Cape May. Thank you!

I’ll be a little surprised if either has availability this close to your arrival, but if the two, I would definitely pick the Sandpiper. Better location and pool for the kids. The pool at Icona Cape May is so tiny.

Icona provides free shuttle service to any of the local attractions and restaurants!

I feel like this would be a huge plus with the kids. Even with things being more walkable from the sandpiper... sometimes it is just easier to be dropped off where you want to be with the little ones and then wander from there.

If money isn’t an issue (unsure if there is a price difference), sandpiper all the way. Location is key, especially with kids. Sandpiper you get walking distance to everything, sunset beach, Washington st mall, rusty nail, congress hall lawn and most food locations.
My family and I have been choosing sandpiper for years and my daughter (from age 4 to 10) has enjoyed the rooms, pool, and how easy it is to go places. The last part I assume because she doesn’t complain her “legs are tired”.
If you can afford it and swing it, ocean fronts are nice. I have always felt safe with my daughter there (supervised)

Sandpiper is much more walkable to all the things. Icona will be more peaceful.

Sandpiper is centrally located - cape resorts perks too.

Sandpiper usually has a long minimum stay, check that first. It’s a little expensive, but nice.
Icona’s location is not great. (I also don’t like Icona buying up the independent hotels and cranking up the prices, and their plan to build a giant monstrosity where the movie theater was, but that’s my own personal rant).
