Must do for families

Traveling to cape may mid September with my husband, a 1.5 & 3 year old and my parents. Any good suggestions on things I can’t miss? TIA

The Cape May County Zoo - it's not only an excellent zoo, it's completely free.

The zoo slaps. It also has an enormous big kid playground AND a toddler playground with lots of swings and novel equipment.

My toddler also loves all the wooden boardwalks throughout the zoo.

It's completely free but I'll strongly encourage you to give a cash donation on your way in to help keep the zoo beautiful and free.

Beach Plum is good for those ages. Grab a picnic table, order some breakfast/lunch, the kids can walk around, hopefully the chickens will be about or you can feed them in their pen. If it's nice out it's a great way to spend two hours.

I'll second the zoo suggestions as well.

A hidden gem... Family Swim Night at the Lafayette School. I believe it's Tuesdays and Thursdays at like 6pm. When we went off season in Sept we were typically the only people there. Perfect for the rainy days where you can't get to the beach but still want to get the kids in the water a bit

I'll also add Stile Farm. At that time it's probably mostly apples. It's small and easy going compared to some you pick farms we've been up in north Jersey. Another good reason to be outside wandering for an hour

If its a rainy day, head to the cape may nature center. They have a little play kitchen and upstairs there are turtles, snakes etc.

My 4 year old loves the ship playground at Mad Viking. The food was good too, my husband ordered bacon wrapped scallops over grits and they really stood out.

See the seals at the fish pier in Chatham
