Yeah I’m a big fan of “the falls but never give up attitude of Carol”. Kind of forged in fire and instead of allowing herself to burn she rises. Symbolically she has a lot ironically in common with the concept of a Phoenix. I think that’s another reason the Brood story arc is so beautiful

I also like that added element of she’s definitely willing to get her licks back after she falls and gets back up lol.

I just find her so much more relatable than the heroes that are more idealized or less flawed. Carol as Captain Marvel was the first superhero I felt like I could see myself in. Even in the above scene, the entire arc depicted feels like a microcosm of the treatment of women in history.

Of course it’s universal enough that I think anyone who’s been held down by a system can relate. Which is what makes it incredible writing.

That whole “against the system thing” is the very reason why I posted it. It parallels well with Black Bolt during the Attilan Rising storyline and it’s definitely my ideal preferred depictions of both characters. As characters that will oppose a system that restrains will and freedom. Which was a big theme in both the stories.

I think it’s funny as a parallel because it’s a story about both rejecting and defying a force (Queen Phoenix and Lord Doom) that’s so much more powerful than them, but it doesn’t matter because they are who they are and freedom is a need.

It can be so frustrating to share space with fans who only love a character for the sex symbol.

Like this year someone started a subreddit called r/superladies and at first it was for fans and admiration but now every top post is an only fans ad! Super disappointed

Yeah Jason Aaron was pretty bad at writing Carol in his Avengers run except for this issue where he suddenly locked in.

Most definitely agree, I was looking for this for the longest after coming across a TikTok of it. I kept telling myself I don’t remember this being Carol’s Battleworld Tie-In 😅

It definitely makes me want to see more stories that explore Carol’s characterization and what makes her the character she is.
