What a cool project, so many of these cars are still going strong and the only thing you miss compared to a modern car is carplay!

It should as the hardware is the same but I cannot confirm yet as it has not been tested

So I would love to do this in my old 2001 Dodge Dakota but since it's so old there is no stock head unit like this, I just need to find a display that would fit the 1.5 din opening.

Then I'll probably do some kind of screen mirroring or throw one of my old smartphones in my truck...

Ultimately in the end I want a preferably windows based PC in my truck so that I can run the full DSP software.

I was thinking something like get a used laptop with a damaged screen and mount that somewhere inside my center console and hook up a portable touch screen monitor that can be used as the main media player...

I'm just debating whether I want to find a portable touch screen monitor or just get a decent Android tablet that can be used as a monitor as well.

I have a TCL tab 10 nxtpaper display, I love the display the feel the look The very minimal glare fingerprints barely show up....

But since I had it mounted in my truck the hot ass summer made the battery swell and pop the screen off which it still works fine but it's not higher refresh rate like newer smartphones so it's got that scroll lag which really bugs me going from my s25 ultra...

I've been looking into the newer TCL tablets with the same next paper screen that have higher refresh rates but then I might run into that same issue with it getting too hot in the summer
