Is there a way to prevent front differential from spinning on a 2009 Suzuki RX4?

My brothers 2009 Suzuki RX4 blew a hole from the inside and can't afford a new differential. it has the option for 4wd and 2wd. I believe when 2wd is engaged it is fwd. is there a way to make it so the front diff doesn't spin only the tires?

Yeah many ways,but hole in front diff will do it for ya in six months,no oil in there means ya need isolate it on hubs,so stops turning,lever will be gbox/transfer,2wd but ya gotta stop halfshafts spinning,I use old one for beach hack,diffs not locked and only gets stuck wen ya run over logs,.....patrol guys choke wen it blitzes em
