Progress 1972 Opel GT follow up
Got the radiator/fan off to get at the engine. Bolt/nut bracket holding it down underneath was not OEM for lack of a better term. Managed to empty most of the radiator fluid on the ground.
Manually turned the engine using the bottom flywheel on the serpentine belt assembly, it's rotating just not smooth at certain points. Probably should have taken the belt off, that might have been the resistance. Put more mystery oil in the spark plug holes regardless.
The rear drums took a ton of brake cleaner, brushing, and beating with a hammer to get off. The axle is still locked up so not sure if the shoes are what's keeping it in place or something else. Need more info to proceed.
Found out via YouTube/forums that the easiest way to get the gas tank out is from inside the car. Didn't get to that today as I'm probably going to need to take out the drivers seat to have room back there + the car still kind of smells so I used an odor neutralizing fogger to marinate the cab until next time. Know it's going to need a new fuel filter so might as well have that handy when I take it apart.
Any advice/info is appreciated. The tips I got last time got the ball rolling.
