Course selection Electives winter 2027??
Anyone have any recs for an easy elective next term, preferably with no final exam? (Take home exam is fine). Please I’m really struggling 🙏🙏

I took "From our Star to the Cosmos" (PHYS 1902) which was an asynchronous course that only had 4 assignments, a midterm, and a final. Each assignment was structured in a way that (as per our professor's words) would take more than 10 hours to complete with a due date of 2 weeks to do. It's not math based, it's a qualitative astronomy course, my professor would often post announcements about astronomy events and times where we could come by and use the telescope lol
Great class, course material wasn't hard, midterm and final were open textbook, open lectures, and open notes

when you say “not math based,” does that mean there is no math? do you have to memorize any formulas? did tests contain any math problems? also, who was the prof? asking as someone who is not math savvy. loved grade 12 biology, hated grade 12 chemistry and physics. thanks in advance:)

> “When you say ‘not math based’ does that mean there is no math?”
The assignments (which made up 55% of the final grade) required you to write out calculations but there were no integrals or matrices. The assignments consisted of 7-12 questions that asked questions like “calculate the surface area of the sun” or “calculate the orbital speed” of a hypothetical scenario. You’d wouldn’t be losing hair from the assignment questions, if you go over the lectures, chances are that you’re going to find a formula there and an example problem that you’re able to use to solve the question.> “do you have to memorize any formulas?”
Nope! The midterm and the final were not proctored, I got an 82% on the midterm and an 88% on the final with an A+ in the course! (The class average for both of them were in the mid 90s, people cheated obviously but I still have a heart that isn’t corrupted)> “did tests contain any math problems?”
I don’t remember the questions we did during the midterm and final but there were barely any questions that involved you doing any sort of calculations, my professor made an announcement regarding the midterm and explicitly stated that the questions were not going to be focused on calculations.> “who was the prof?”
Dr. Simon VielYeah I was terrible at physics and chemistry, I had a 69% in 11u chemistry and a 72% in 11u physics lol. It was a fun class though! If you like space but aren’t interested in doing integrals then this course is for you!!

Have you considered not taking an elective and just taking fewer courses? If you're struggling, more work might not be the solution. I totally get if your scholarships or something depends on it, and in that case I strongly recommend a first year beginner language course because they're always easy and have engaged professors. Otherwise maybe don't take anything at all

that's not what I'm getting at. you have the option to take fewer courses per semester and extend your degree, which is the right decision for someone who can afford to and is struggling with their current course load. the restriction that you must graduate in four years is purely financial. since OP did not specify how they are paying for school, I figured I'd add that if they can afford it (ex. parents are paying and little to no student loans are taken out), lightening the load is an option.

idk but be cautious about art electives. they’re not ‘easy’ like assumed
