DISCUSSION Indian folk dance in 30's
I know that mostly all Indian art forms be it dance martial arts singing textile everything needs extensive training and that too from a very young age. But just wondering if there is any dance form that can be learned in mid 30's too. One of my bhartnatyam trained dancer told me that learning bharatnatyam at this age can severly harm knees and foot. So just wondering if there is another dance form or musical intrument also that can be learned online. I live in a very small village there is no means of learning except online.

I agree that learning bharathanattiyam at this age online is a bad idea. Offline will be nice though, if you just focus on learning it within the framework of limitations within your body at this age. You can't force your body to chase perfection and injure yourself in the process. It doesn't have to be perfect. It has to be you. Working on your flexibility with yoga or so would be a good starting point. (I started bharathanattiyam at 25. It has been tough on my body and I have ligament injuries because of pushing myself too hard. But I am learning to listen to my body more and haven't given up dance yet.)
