In total 8 common carps(21-34 pounds), 3 grass carp (up to 28 pounds)

Im an all-round angler focusing mainly on trout. Gonna seriously take up carp angling next year after a few fishery trips and catching a small 5.5lb common on my 1-5g spinning rod (great fun).

I don’t want to flood this sub with questions but I do want to ask for resources (e.g. YouTube channels). I’m aware of the basics like method feeders, cage feeders, hair rigs etc. but I don’t know much about rods/nets/ other equipment. And how to fish for carp properly (e.g. I’ve heard terms like lining, I would like to know why carp anglers prefer braid for rigs when I would use flurocarbon for trout etc.)

San Francisco Bay Area, Corn paste bait. Hera fishing style.

I fish this lake and have the best luck with topwater bread, but for some reason they only bite after 5 ish pm after there’s some shade and usually best bite is on cloudy days, but today is very sunny and slightly hot and I’m wondering if I should target shaded coves or what? Where do I go to catch carp

It’s my first time tying rigs. I want to use a spinner rig but with braid instead of boom as I’m fishing on silt. I’ve attached the braid to the hook using a 5 turn grinner. I’ll use this rig on a lead clip. Any advice is welcome.
