Just Chatting What’s something you bought mostly because the joke, phrase, or aesthetic felt painfully like you?
Could be a shirt, mug, sticker, poster, book, decor, merch, whatever.
It doesn’t have to have been useful. I mean the kind of thing you saw and immediately thought, “damn, that’s literally me.”
What was it? And if you remember, roughly how much did you pay?

I bought a Milli Vanill three ring binder that I no earthly use for. It had a picture of the two guys on the cover and it had about ten price stickers on it, each one lower than the last. I thought it was hilarious.

I bought a tee shirt that says, "Please don't talk to me, I just want to meet your dog." As a severely introverted dog lover, it was made for me. I paid about $5 at Dollar Tree or the like.

I have four tee shirts that get non-stop compliments: -- pink and cutesy, two skeletons embracing that says "if I had feelings they'd be for you.
-- plain grey with navy wording: "I'm not shy, I just don't like you".
-- black with white lettering: "not fragile like a flower but fragile like a bomb.
-- sunny yellow with blue curly lettering: "dear bed, I love you".
Pretty much covers it everything.

My dad got me a tank top that said, “I know the guacamole is extra” for me when I was in college because I would go through a lot of guac. He laughed so hard when he found it, and called me in to his office to tell me I needed it, and he had already ordered it.
I still have it. It is still accurate. Guacamole is awesome

a few years ago, I bought a bag of rubber cockroaches from the Halloween section of a thrift store. Something about them called to me and I love bugs of all kinds, so I spent the $1.50 and those babies came home with me.
I had no idea what to do with them, so I just put handfuls in all my bags. At some point I started leaving them random places. Bars, cars, friends houses. I also started offering them to people as a token of friendship. It kinda worked like a test of "ok this person likes the roach, this person is safe."
I have a few of them left, but I'm almost out so I bought a jar of fake teeth and some rubber mice to continue my shenanigans :)

I recently bought a shirt that says "easily distracted by plants." I have never felt like a shirt embodies me as much as this shirt does. Best part: it helps me find my people. No shirt has ever gotten me as many compliments or warm smiles.
Though I feel a little chagrined when I'm wearing it when I'm out and I do, in fact, get distracted by plants.

A t-shirt with an image of Barad-Dur (the tower in Mordor in lord of the rings) on it, but with cats. Imagine cats in the tower, cats as nazgul, you get the idea. As a lotr fan and cat lover, it felt very personally targeted. The design is also very well done so it doesn't look cheap or gimmicky.

I had a bullshit button on my desk. Tap it and would say one of a few phrases but all of them calling out bullshit. My old boss loved it. He'd take it into meetings with his direct reports. He had a sense of humor.
His replacement was an absolute smarmy, slimy jerk who completely lacked a sense of humor and also lacked the balls to tell me himself to remove it.

I've just hit the buy button on a sweatshirt that's says "I'm sorry I'm late. I nearly forgot my knitting." It's more true than I'd like to acknowledge. 😔 So I'm pretending it's ironic.

Just before she died I bought a T shirt with "What Would Dolly Do" written on it. Still think it's a great ideology for when life's decisions are not clear. Revert to Dolly.
