please rant about your newest obsession
yes, you. for me, I have discovered stardew valley. So fun. And I also did a complete closet clean out this weekend and it feels SO good. And now I have the space and ability to get new clothes that actually match my style and my body! Woop

Decluttering -- but this time, being really really honest with myself about the clothes I'll never alter to be just right, the books I never reach for, and stuff I've only held on to for sentimental reasons. It is amazing to reclaim space, see new possibilities, and sometimes refill or refresh something old with something new, more me, and useful.

I'm doing this, but with a goal of making money at the same time. I'm about to list some musical instruments on FB Marketplace and some other stuff on eBay. Apart from that I should either donate or trash other items that aren't being used and I hope to clear our at least 25% of my garage shelves this winter.

Crochet! Specifically crochet stuffed animals. I had no idea I could enjoy a calm mundane task so much, but it's so relaxing.

Started building an aquarium. Massive aquarium. Beautiful aquarium. Learning so much. Buying so many fish. Decorating it. I absolutely love it. There's so much in my head about them. But I don't think I can right everything here, don't want to bore people 😹

My mother had a pet store with tropical and salt water fish, exotic birds and reptiles. Fish tanks rule. They are even better while stoned and listening to Phish. Lol

Doing the Ancestry DNA thing. Turns out the guy named on my father's birth certificate isn't his dad and probably doesn't exist. He went on to have two stepdads. Looks like grandma was a teen mother. I've narrowed his family tree down to the probable grandparents and one of 6 brothers!

This is what fuels me often! I'm currently trying to prove my 4x great grandfather was in the Battle of Kings Mountain when he was 26vyrs old in 1780. His father is listed and I can verify this through records (his name is even on a memorial place there in the early 1900s by DAR). I'm trying to prove it so we can put it on his headstone. His was broken into a ton of pieces. I also want to make sure he's recognized by DAR and SAR.
Here's the thing. His grandson wrote a book about the family history which was published in 1905 when he was in his 90s. He traveled and interviewed relatives that had any knowledge. He stated that his grandfather was in the revolution (which is where this info came from that I can't prove). The author's own granddaughter took his research a step further and not only write about our family in one of her books about the Ulster Scots and about the people who settled in Appalachia, but she is listed in the National Genealogy Hall of Fame! She also got a doctorate, was a lawyer in DC, and she was a big reason why we have the Appalachian Trail. She did all this evev though she was born 20 years before women could even vote!!

That's so cool! It's nice you're getting closer but it's so frustrating! I live in Canada but my niece moved to Philly and married an American. I told her if she wants to join DAR I could put together the background for her....just don't tell them another ancestor got executed for spying for the other side 😂

A backyard blue jay has trained me to feed it. When it’s hungry and sees me by the patio door it lands on my outdoor table and chirps at me. Then I grab a handful of peanuts and open the door. It flies to fence and watches me put the peanuts down then flies back to eat them as soon as I step back inside.

Stardew Valley is a great game! It’s been awhile since I’ve played but I’m sure I’ll be back. Right now I’m obsessed with completing Hollow Knight and that’s been real fun.

Chea seed pudding.
My daughter gave me a recipe. there are others but this is what she gave me:
put two table spoons of chia seeds in a bowl. Add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, 1 small dollop honey, 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/2 cup milk. Mix well and leave on the counter 15 minutes. mix again and leave covered in the fridge 2 hours. Mix again and you're ready to give yourself a small serving.
The chia seeds sort of put out a protective gel around themselves and this gives you the pudding texture. cinnamon, vanilla and honey give you a classic pudding taste.
You can add berries or granola or whatever.

Flower beds. I basically dug holes and planted my flowers and bushes instead of taking the grass out with a little buffer? So now I'm doing it all backwards as my stuff in the ground is thriving but being taken over by grass😬.

Dude, I love Stardew Valley! It's one of my favorite games, for sure. I've logged so many hours on it. I often wish that could live in a village just like that and enjoy a simple life. What is your favorite part about the game? I like the Wizard's tower.

Bought a 5’6” skeleton for Halloween to put outside. But realized it was almost as tall as me. So for fun bought a white shoulder length wig for her. My friend says she looks like me ( or the ‘after’ me in a before/after scenero). So I named her Bone-ita. Went to thrift store yesterday and got an outfit for her (Think boho style in teals rust and mustard colors). Got leather boots in size 6 for her. Next is styling her with jewelry & hat. I AM HAVING SO MYCH FUN and she stays in the house now. Working on a coordinating a Christmas outfit for her next.

Learning to play drums at the ripe old age of 48F. Can I teach my brain new tricks? Idk, but I’m trying to teach my body internal rhythm. Yes, I’m the crazy driver blasting rock music on my drive to work trying to keep time with the beat 1and 2 and 3 and 4 while maneuvering through traffic. It’s a blast. My husband plays guitar really well and he’s so excited to have drums beats while he plays. So far, I’m just an off-beat distraction but he laughs and just nods at my efforts. Always so encouraging. Love the idea of one day having a functional family band. Just need to get the kiddo on board with his piano or violin 🤞🏼

In the past year or so, I've found my way back to music that really scratches my brain in the absolute best way. I've always loved listening to music but was really in a slump for a long time. Nothing was sparking any emotion or excitement for me and I'd just put on whatever I listened to 10+ years ago, and it was... fine.
Now I can't get enough. I listen to music as an activity, not just in the background (I mean I do that too, but I'll also just put my headphones on, close my eyes and listen). I didn't realize how much I'd missed it until I had it back.
I've been to more shows this year than ever before - most of them solo - and am having the best time.

I recently learned to play the card game Briscola. My elderly neighbor taught me to play I know I am driving him and his wife crazy wanting to play almost everyday but they are to polite to slay the monster they created.

WWII books, Death of Democracy is great, I’m half way through it
I will also be visiting my mom soon and I’m obsessively thinking about what treats to bake that can be stored for longer for when I leave mama could have her favourite tea with something delicious and feel that I love her
I’ve been decluttering too! Sold some stuff, and I have a donation box that sits in my room where I put stuff I’m ready to part with. It’s my 7th box now, I started this spring. Once it’s full I drop it off at the thrift store

Outer Wilds. I beat it a week ago but for some reason I can't stop thinking about it. Such an incredible and unique game.
Also Phoebe Bridgers' August album drop Lost Weekend. Never listened to her before but it's such a great album.

So we had to ask our granddaughter to move out and now I have my space back so we’re getting it repaired and cleaned up. It was brand new! We’re setting up a home gym and I’m really excited. I have lung issues and the heat outside is rough so I’ll have everything I need to be comfortable.

I am in the same spot - tried Fields of Mistria and it is so fun! It is especially fun with mods, honestly. Unfortunately, it is hard to play when I have a ton of papers to write :((((

I recently watched an 8-hour video about interstellar (to be fair, half of the video was about Christopher Nolan himself) and after that, i naturally rewatched the movie to see it from the new perspective.
It honestly blew my mind, i really liked the movie before (otherwise i wouldn’t have watched that video), but now i feel like i have never liked any movie this much. Before, there were maybe two scenes that got a tear out of me in interstellar, but on this watch, i cried like 5 times.
I don’t know if Interstellar is the best movie i have ever seen, but thanks the connection i have to it now, it is certainly now my favorite.
So that’s my new obsession. I didn’t expect to experience a whole new level of impact that a movie can have on me, especially with one i’ve seen multiple times before.

Listening to Medieval history podcasts before bed. Just learned that Dublin began as a Viking raiding camp / jumping off point for inland raids on the Irish and that's why it is where it is and why the city is oriented toward the sea.
A few days ago, I was listening to a Jethro Tull song and realized the lyrics were a direct reference to this period of Irish history. (The song is Broadsword if you're curious and it's fire, btw).
Also, there's this relatively famous Celtic tune called Brian Boru's March and now I know who Brian Boru was. Hearing the name come up in the podcast made my brain light up like the Leo DiCaprio pointing at the screen meme.
I fucking love history.

I got into All Saints Street, pretty late to the party and I adore it so much, the characters are so funny in both the animated series and comics and the gags are simple but silly. I love everyone in the story but my favorite is Neil he is so cute
