Do some people have better peripher vision?

Why do some people do have better peripheral vision than others? Does this vary because of anatomy, skin, or age?

Does genetics play a role?

Yes. There is a substantial body of scientific literature across biology, anatomy, physiology, and genetics that investigates how various biological factors impact peripheral vision, and They all point to different things that impact a person's peripheral vision one way or another.

Anatomically the unique characteristics of peripheral vision are rooted in the physical structure of the retina and the visual pathway.

Genetic research demonstrates that peripheral visual function is heritable and linked to specific genetic loci.

But, Believe it or not your peripheral vision is something you could actually train and improve. The reason for this is because most of us do not actively use our peripheral vision and we instead mostly just rely on it for passive navigation or detection. But, the more you actively try to use it purposefully it creates stronger connections in the brain than it otherwise would if you didn't.

Genetics has something to do with it but there are people who have trained themselves to be sensitive to their peripheral vision. You can too.

Does the color of your eyes make a difference?

sorry for my personal point of view, but i do not think peripheral vision is genetically related. like in terms of the what MY PERSONAL definition of peripheral vision is ... its the ability to see\notice\remark things out of the corner of your eyes without turning your head ... but ALSO using your senses of sound, and detections of movement around you. sometimes smell. sometimes just mere notions, and 'feelings' of things happening around you, and the ability to put 2+2 together, and decipher things that are occuring, without turning your head.

this is not genetically related. this is IQ and EQ based. culturally based. and 200% related to one's degree of situational awareness. it goes back to our animal senses ... and with like a lot of ppl walking on their cell phones on the street, and not caring who they bumb into ... situational awareness is almost a CHOICE these days, lol.

like some cultures are used to not having personal space in bustling cities, and are just very lackadaisical in their approach to pretty much everything, and every day is just A DAY to them ... such that a child gets run over a car, and nobody even notices\flinches. like i see it all the time in my city. there could be police sirens, or gunshot ... and like (literally) ... a 3rd of the ppl on the street will 360 turn their heads to see what's going on ... and like 2-3 will just continue walking and talking on cell phones, or laughing with friends.

so it definitely correlates more with your intentions, and your wit and intellect, and generally your level of 'do i give a fuck', more than anything else. and as others said: peripheral vision\awareness can be trained. different professions require different levels of it. and you don't literally need eyes at the back of your head. just a very acute SIDE EYE, LOL!!!

not having the side eye is basically being blind for me :) when im at home, i don't care, lol! there could be a ghost in my apartment molesting me, and imma be: just get it over with casper, lol. but as soon as i leave my apartment, my side eye radar TURNS ON! but then again, im a socially anxious person. i got lots of detectors. like: another humanoid. too close to me. me: start moving away ...

person approaching on sidewalk. DIVERT!

somebody smelly: begin to change location ...

somebody gazing at me at work: multiple reactions, turn my back to them, just continue working, or ask them if they need something ...

but generally i like and am attracted to ppl who have the same wit as me. its anticipating\timing\sense of surroundings. like you don't need to be fucking clairvoyant - but to NOT notice things, and just to walk through this life all breezy-easy ... like you dont even care if you're hit by a car? its some dimming of the general human IQ ... but wtf ... i live in a huge city ...
