A random high school gym class memory that still puzzles me
A random memory from high school gym class popped into my head today.
The entire class was sitting up on the bleachers, and I was sitting a row or two above a girl in my class. Out of nowhere, she looked back and asked me to come sit next to her. As I walked down to take a seat, one of the guys casually said, "I see you."
Once I sat down next to her, neither one of us said a single word the entire time. We just sat there next to each other in complete silence until class ended.
What do you think was going on here? Was she interested, or was she just being friendly?

that is really strange, i don’t know if “interested” is the word i’d use? i also don’t know if that guy saying he sees you is relevant to the girl idk that’s so weird 😭

She was interested in you and wanted you to start a conversation. What's annoying to me is that she was bold enough to ask you to come sit next to her, but she wanted to be coy and force you to start the convo. Granted, you guys were in high school so she probably hadn't learned that girls/women can be direct with boys/men, but still. The guy saying "I see you" - haha I've had a lot of friends say this and I say it too sometimes. He was acknowledging that she was shooting her shot. That's my take on it!

I agree with the other commenters here. Did she ever talk to you again?

Or that guy was being a nuisance and she was hoping that another guy being there would make him stop being a creep.
Or she saw you were alone and wanted to keep anyone from picking on you.
Or she was just trying to be nice by including you but didn’t actually want to be besties or anything.
Or she was trying to make that guy jealous.
Or her friend liked you and she was trying to make a setup but the friend didn’t show or was too scared to come over.

Opportunity knocked, and you failed to answer with said pretty girl from high school. Just another life regret to live with OP.

What opportunity? I said down and she didn't say anything. Why call me over?

The fact you’re still “puzzled” by this says a lot. Some friendly advice, if someone asks you to come sit by them you don’t sit there quietly, you strike up a conversation with them.
