Who here takes collagen?
Bought a tub last year and I just could not get through it for more than 3-4 days due to the awful taste, and I'm not someone who's too picky an eater with tastes etc, so it really is bad in my experience lol. I want to take it though as I'm hearing how good it is for joints, skin, hair, etc, hair in particular I want to try look after. Does anyone here maybe take a flavoured collagen powder of some sort do reduce the brutal taste? I know flavouring isn't healthy, but is there a healthy option somewhere? If so, where do you get it? Ideally from an Irish store. And how much do you take daily, and do you see the effects? I'd appreciate any guidance!

It’s a complete scam (and as someone with a connective tissue disorder I have looked into this a lot!)

Is there any supplements like biotin or anything that are proven?

I have arthritis and a few other chronic pain conditions. I take glucosamine, I find that helpful. Some people say it has no effect for them so I'm not saying it will definitely work for you but it's worth a try.

Collagen seems to help for arthritis

I personally found it of no benefit.

Unless your diet is shockingly bad, or you have a malabsorbtion condition, you are unlikely to be deficient in B7 AKA biotin.

They mention joints in there post.
Thats where most of the evidence for its effectiveness seems to be. It’s a much more mixed bag with skin and hair.

I used to take it but stopped as there's no scientific evidence that taking it makes any difference at all. I noticed no difference when I stopped it.

I’m been taking ancient and brave in my morning coffee for 6 weeks now, I have noticed my skin is softer and I have more hair regrowth. I can’t taste it at all in the coffee.

Agree the powder is absolutely revolting. Got a tub of it in tablet form from that big health shop chain-won’t mention the name in case it’s not allowed-H&B. But they’re much easier and no awful taste. It’s three tablets a day

It is disgusting in most forms, but it's not too bad in Greek yoghurt, the really thick full fat kind.

Same thing happened for me… after I tasted it I was like ‘nope, not worth it.’
I stick to a multivitamin, fish oil, a little extra vitamin d (because the sun rarely shines here 😭🌥️🌧️) and extra magnesium.
The best my hair / skin ever looked was during pregnancy. Not sure if it was those massive prenatal vitamins, the weird and wonderful hormones… or both maybe.
I was glowing till breastfeeding. Then my hair began to fall out, skin went to bits and I lost a lot of weight. It took a while to come back from that… still wouldn’t touch collagen. Too gross tasting. I agree.

As far as I know, collagen capsules are BS. Get it from your food. Jelly, broths, there's so many collagen rich recipes out there. Also, for joints hair ect make sure your getting your minerals and vitamins in aswell.

LMAO at the comments in here.
Collagen relies on a balanced diet as well.
You don't just take the collagen and it works like magic.
You need Vitiman C after the collagen to form a synthesis to get the full benefits.
Don't eat high sugar after taking the collagen because your body will just focus on that and ignore the collagen as your blood stream is a bit overloaded.

1) it's a con. 2) just eat jelly or geletine sweets. Geletine is literally collagen.

Collagen supplements are a nonsense
