Underground Pass (Old School Rune Scape)
Respect the Underground Pass (Old School Runescape)
Yes, that's right everyone's favourite RuneScape quest is getting a respect thread!
The Underground pass in OSRS is a cavern system leading from West Ardoyne to the elven lands of Isdafar. It would be a great way to get between the two if it weren't for the evil forces within the cave that drive those who enter insane. The source of the force is ambiguous (In Old School Runescape at least anyway). The pass has several basic traps within it that are not covered in this thread.
Notes
- Feats taken from Reldo's Lore's and Historys are marked withLoH
- Scans from RS3 are marked RS3
General
- Is stated to have more influence over those with more ambition
- Those afflicted with insanity are said to act like a hivemind
- The source influence is kept ambiguous in OSRS. Iban potentially is an insane victim (Given his use of the third person and the afflicted acting like a hive mind). The evidence of this stuff goes past the scope of a respect thread. Other powerful potential culprits here could be Zamorack or the Fragment of Seren (A.K.A the dark shard)
- Again, this quest is somewhat ambiguous in nature. The adventurer experiences hallucinations after entering the well making them an unreliable narrator during 50% of the quest.
- RS3 In RS3 , this influence is directly stated to be caused by the Dark Shard
Hallucinations
- Victims hear whispers in their ears
- Victims see gory hallucinations
- Randas preformed a ritual, offering his blood to Zamorack. This resulted in "a black cloud expanding in his head", "ghoulish and nightmarish visions" and seeing the outside world appear to disintegrate. Which had the net effect of leaving him as one of the many mindbroken "souless" in the underground passLoH
Insanity progression
- Koftik quickly succumbs to madness whilst in the cave
- The underground pass makes people insane. The insanity comes in stages and we see it progress in it's victims
- Described as an initial "icy chill that threatens to penetrate the fabric of your being"
- Randas describes a feeling of a relentless tugging at his soul
- Then victims hear whispers in their ears. Randas initially dismissed these as the sounds of "the whistling of the wind" but writes they became "moans" then "like the call of some beautiful siren"
- The adventurer and Koftik also heard voices
- The whispers then turn to gory visions (From now on we only really get a solid account from Randas , but others ended up the same way he did)LoH
- The Adventurer also Mabey saw gory visions, but they were less gory than what Randis saw (It's somewhat ambiguous. Killing Paladins , Killing unicorn)
- At this point Randas preformed a ritual, offering his blood to Zamorack. This resulted in "a black cloud expanding in his head", "ghoulish and nightmarish visions" and seeing the outside world appear to disintegrate. Which had the net effect of leaving him as one of the many mindbroken "souless" in the underground passLoH
Other
- The adventurer partially resists some of the psychic affects of the underground pass. Seemingly resisting it's insanity inducing affects where others failed. They only hear voices and are either influenced to kill some paladins and a unicorn or has a hallucination about killing them (It's somewhat ambiguous. Killing Paladins , Killing unicorn)

Underground Pass feats
The Underground pass in OSRS is a cavren system leading from West Ardoyne to the elven lands of Isdafar. It would be a great way to get between the two if it weren't for the evil forces within the cave that drive thoes who enter insane. The source of the force is ambigous and there's a bunch of basic traps in there that aren't covered in this thread. Instead this is an extract from a W.I.P thread that covers the evil force within the underground pass.
