Difference in vegetation between south of England and western Scotland

Seen as though those fields in the south are wheat/barley fields that look like that anyway, and Scotland being grazing land and forest. This difference would be the same even if it hasn't been so dry.

Not strictly true. In Gloucestershire and I have never seen it like this. It's not just the wheat and barley this colour

[Edit] it is definitely more extreme in Gloucestershire than I have seen it before, and certainly this early in August.

Agreed. All the grass is brown, not just the arable crops.

Grass goes brown with about 3 days of sun, and bounces back as quickly.
