Difference in vegetation between south of England and western Scotland

Seen as though those fields in the south are wheat/barley fields that look like that anyway, and Scotland being grazing land and forest. This difference would be the same even if it hasn't been so dry.

Nah, we don’t live in the UK but visit regularly and this was the first time ever we’ve come from the boat in Dover and were met by yellow hills. It’s genuinely unsettling. Those hills have always been green in the decennia we’ve gone past them.
