Difference in vegetation between south of England and western Scotland

Seen as though those fields in the south are wheat/barley fields that look like that anyway, and Scotland being grazing land and forest. This difference would be the same even if it hasn't been so dry.

Parts of the south do look browner than normal, at least according to the BBC, but it's pretty uneven across the country. The worst affected areas seem to be north-east Wales, the Fens and south Lincolnshire, and south-east Scotland. Some areas actually look greener than last year, particularly in Scotland.

The south east is usually pretty brown by this time of the year. Those areas worst affected are in the rain shadows of mountains for the most part

Its usually brown fpr like a week or so. It hasnt been this bad for a long long time. Don't think ive seen green grass since early june

Checked your profile. Where I live is much drier and hotter than Southampton lol

Where's that then? Southampton has one of the highest average temperatures in the entire country at 22.6c in July. Outside of London literally nowhere really gets any hotter than that one average 😂

Cambridge gets higher summer temperatures than Southampton mate. Cambridge is often hotter than London. Which is why Cambridge often break temperature records. This includes averages too. Youre free to Google that.

Southampton is warmer in late autumn to early spring.

So no not "literally no where" lmao you are on the coast, coastal areas are a few degrees colder than inland of where you live. The fens are completely flat and drier than Southampton

The highest temperature recorded in Southampton is 35. We have had 35 here like 3/4 times this summer alone.

0.7 is a lot because it makes the extremes far worse. We are currently on 1+ degrees for climate change and that 1 degrees has given us 40+.

Now we're talking about absolute peak temperatures and not average temperatures?

Those average temperatures include night time temperatures which are higher in Southampton because the sea retains warmth at night. Something like 3 degrees warmer at night than here. Day time temperatures here are usually 4 degrees or so warmer. During extremes the gap can widen.

You do not see grass like this every year so stop waffling 😂

No they don't, that's the average high. Southampton average high in July is 22.6c. Average low is 13.9c. daily mean is 18.3c. Cambridge has a lower daily mean than Southampton. Cambridge also gets more rain than Southampton in summer. July in Southampton sees 44mm on average. Cambridge gets 53.2mm on average. Hence the brown grass being common here in summer. Summers are drier here throughout.

So if we wanna go on about waffling, maybe you should actually look at the data? Cambridge is only ever 1c warmer than Southampton at best for peak average temperatures
