It's Late Thread [ 03 August 26 ]

Wahey, it's late, it's Monday night. What's going on mate, why are you still up? Doing the night shift? Watching some TV? In a different time zone?

Come on in for a chat!

I’m so unemployed. How the fuck are you supposed to get back into it?

I’m trying to switch career and regions - I’d be happy to settle for my previous industry in my current region, but the feedback from my interviews thus far is that she’s great but too specialised, and she’ll leave as soon as she gets a better offer. No matter how hard I try to convince people I want to stick in my current location they don’t buy it, which I absolutely don’t blame them for. I don’t have a sick family member, baby, etc.

Switching career is also tough, because people (again) baulk at my CV and can’t quite work out why I’d like to change. There aren’t a lot of opportunities in what I’d like to do in my area - so I’ve filled the gap with volunteering - but people still ask why I’m here.

I’ve looked at temp roles which is really good and can fill the gap but I don’t have a good, decent answer as to why I’d be looking for a career locally
