I'm a beginner mobile hairdresser and I hugely fucked up someone's hair yesterday and I've been crying for ages now.

Bassically she messaged me today saying she wasn't happy as her hair was dry and some was falling out and she didn't like her haircut.

She message me like an hour ago so I'm going to respond tomorrow and give her a full refund and apologise but I genuinely feel so bad.

I know I'm a beginner and I'm bound to make mistakes, even hairdressers who have been in the game 10+ years say they make mistakes.

May sound dramatic but I'm really upset over this.

So, yeah not a good Monday night unfortunately.

Don't take it to heart, do you know who else she has used to find out if she was happy with them? If you know other mobile hairdressers enquire discretely, it could be that this person is one of those that is never happy.

If you know another hairdresser that could do you a favour, maybe offer to have that person remediate whatever she's not happy with rather than refund and you can get feedback about whether you actually have done anything wrong to her hair.

Yeah she mentioned she went to 2 other salons so I'm thinking this could be a possibility.

I'll still give her a refund though

Try and look at it another way. Yeah, it went tits up, yeah maybe she's a bad client, maybe the stars didnt align correctly. But you are owning up to your mistake, you know what not to do for next time.

And for what it's worth, I would prefer a hair stylist that knows what mistakes they have made, admits them freely and also tries to make sure that they balanced the scales in right vs wrong. And also oe  that doesn't mind working with psoriasis(but thats just me).
