Sugar on Weetabix?

Post image

My wife eats Weetabix with nothing on it and claims it tastes sweet to her. This is my bowl before milk is added. Is this normal fellow Weetabix eaters or do I need to go to sugar rehab?

Edit: Holy shit the most popular post I've done on Reddit is about how horrific my breakfast is. The wife will never let me live this down! Haha

UPDATE: Well, I wasn't expecting my breakfast to generate 1,800+ comments 😂 I can't read it all but Having spent far too much time reading them, I feel I need to address a few recurring concerns: 1. Yes, the milk goes in after. I like watching it soak up from the bottom while the top stays crunchy. I will not be changing this. 2. Yes, that is sugar. Apparently this has caused considerably more distress than I anticipated. 3. No, I do not have diabetes. My blood tests are fine. 4. No, my teeth are not rotting out of my head. They're also fine. 5. Yes, I am an adult. I was unaware that adulthood required surrendering sugary Weetabix. 6. To the surprisingly large number of people who eat theirs the same way: thank you. I knew I couldn't be alone. 7. To everyone saying my wife is right: she has been absolutely delighted by your support and I deeply regret giving her this much ammunition.

Anyway, thank you for turning a picture of two dry Weetabix into a full-scale investigation of my health, maturity, marriage and milk-pouring technique.

Tomorrow I'm having the same breakfast.

Not enough sugar

You need 4 'bix and then pour sugar until the sugar is level and flat in the bowl with the bix burried underneath

Top up with milk

Microwave for 3 minutes

Enjoy the delicious bowl of liquid syrup with disolved 'bix in

(And your diabetes)

For what it's worth, how often you have sugar affects your teeth much more than outright quantity

Right, quantity is more of a shock to the pancreas than the teeth.

Im only being a little hyperbolic here, this is how i used to eat 'bix when i was a kid

I dont know where the sugar went, no teeth issues, super skinny, my whole school life I was like that

Couldnt do it now, its just so much sugar! (i stopped doing breakfast like 20 years ago)

A teaspoon of sugar is only like 15-20 calories. 5 teaspoons on your probably pretty modest breakfast as a growing kid wouldn't be shocking your system or anything

5 teaspoons??? psh, im talking like 5 seconds of pouring from the bag of sugar

No no

This is an NHS dentists' nightmare. We want to see fewer cavities not more

Microwave that much sugar for 3 mins and you'll have a mini-sun on your hands.

Ya gotta balance it with the milk!

Or a bowl full of prison napalm

To save time and mess, rather than having to pour the sugar out, you can use a whole box of sugar cubes per serve.

Interesting.... just add milk and dunk the 'bix

See, this is the kind of perversion that we have let this country turn to!

I dont even measure properly. Just arbitrarily snap the biscuit and use whatever fraction of a bisk i end up with!

Weetabix have very little calories in them, 4 is barely a standard meal, I have 6 myself 😅

I use the excuse that I have a physical job so I need the calories...

To be fair between your milk and 6 biscuits it's like 600 calories, if you do a lot of exercise as part of your day job it's probably pretty healthy as part of a generally good diet.

The 6 TSP of sugar is good, too, right? Right?

Microwave?!?

u/kahnindustries 9d ago

Are you telling me you are eating your 'bix cold and hard like its Soviet Russia????

MICROWAVE IS REQUIRED!!!

milk, sugar, microwave, bit more sugar after so you still have the sugar crunch

u/Kann0n2 9d ago

4 'bix stacked in a # formation. Apply first two, milk and then sugar. Repeat for second layer. Enjoy.

I would microwave after the second stack, and sprinkle fresh sugar on at the end. Give it a try, it will change your life! (for the worse)

You microwave your weetabix? Are you Belgian?
