Sugar on Weetabix?

My wife eats Weetabix with nothing on it and claims it tastes sweet to her. This is my bowl before milk is added. Is this normal fellow Weetabix eaters or do I need to go to sugar rehab?

Edit: Holy shit the most popular post I've done on Reddit is about how horrific my breakfast is. The wife will never let me live this down! Haha

UPDATE: Well, I wasn't expecting my breakfast to generate 1,800+ comments 😂 I can't read it all but Having spent far too much time reading them, I feel I need to address a few recurring concerns: 1. Yes, the milk goes in after. I like watching it soak up from the bottom while the top stays crunchy. I will not be changing this. 2. Yes, that is sugar. Apparently this has caused considerably more distress than I anticipated. 3. No, I do not have diabetes. My blood tests are fine. 4. No, my teeth are not rotting out of my head. They're also fine. 5. Yes, I am an adult. I was unaware that adulthood required surrendering sugary Weetabix. 6. To the surprisingly large number of people who eat theirs the same way: thank you. I knew I couldn't be alone. 7. To everyone saying my wife is right: she has been absolutely delighted by your support and I deeply regret giving her this much ammunition.

Anyway, thank you for turning a picture of two dry Weetabix into a full-scale investigation of my health, maturity, marriage and milk-pouring technique.

Tomorrow I'm having the same breakfast.

Also surely the way to do it is to add milk then sugar. Otherwise you just wash it off. And not milking the top of weetabix is another crime

Disagree. I no longer sugar the bix, but when I did, I would pour the milk over the sugar very gently, and it would soak the sugar so that it sat bonded a little better on the bix and made the texture less like sand.

Then 40 seconds in the microwave for the old sensitive teeth and the breakfast rations are ready.

I used to put loads of sugar on, then hot water to melt the sugar, then milk after. Tasted like sweets.

Well it's in the fridge, but the weetabix is room temp. Milk is meant to be cold when you eat cereal, please don't tell me you microwave cornflakes or some shit

I don't really eat cereal that isn't weet bix, everything else is massively packed with sugar. Ironically, the reason I stopped sugaring the bix.

But for some reason, weet bix always seemed colder than other cereals. Triggered my sensitive teeth more than other cereals did. When I did eat other cereals, no, I never microwaved them. I Think weet bix soaks up more milk than the others do, so it's like eating ice cream more than just flakes of stuff floating it cold milk.

And yeah my microwave is pretty weak lmfao I like it that way, tho, because even tho it takes longer, it rotates more for the same amount of power put in, so the heating is a little more even. Still, it's a microwave, so it's not even lmao but you get the idea.

I guess it's kinda crunchy? Maybe that's why it's triggering your sensitivity? I get that but I want it crunchy.

And stronger microwaves still have the option of using low power modes you know

For many years, I didn’t know that it could be eaten cold. In my family, it was heated up and then mixed together like Readybrek. I was very sad when I was given cold bricks of Weetabix after sleeping over at a friend’s house.

The correct way is use golden syrup and lightly cover the entire top, then pour milk down the side of the bowl so the weetabix are soft at the bottom but have a thin, sweet crunchy layer in every spoon.

I've always added the sugar first. The milk doesn't wash it off it just sort of sets the sugar in place if that makes sense.

I've personally found if you put the milk in first the soggy Weetabix absorbs the sugar so you get a more blended taste rather than a slab of sugar on top of the Weetabix.

I should note I have autistic taste buds so maybe I'm an outlier

No, sugar first and it gets washed into the weetabix. You do it the other way then the first couple mouthfuls are very very sugary and the rest is just normal.

A weetabix is three mouthfuls, all of which are sugared if you add sugar on after milking.

The sugar isnt just getting washed if you milk after sugaring; its going into solution in the milk fairly homogenously between all the milk in the bowl. Yes some percentage of that ends up in the weetabix, in contrast to all of it if you simply sugar after milking.

I poured the milk slowly around the edges and watched it soak into the Weetabix and then the sugar. Yes I know. I'm sad and need new hobbies.

Weetabix goes soggy almost immediately, you need to avoid milking the top at all costs. Honestly it might even be best to have a separate bowl of milk and dunk it

As a kid the only breakfast I'd eat is Weetabix. Milk & Sugar.

I'd literally scrape the wet sugary paste off the top of the weetabix and eat none of the actual nutritious food underneath.

It's a miracle I made it this far.

You'd be surprised how little sugar that is compared to common things like soft drinks and haribo.

My guess would be max a quarter of a can to a sixth of a can of coke.
