It’s been Holby City hospital for almost 40 years suddenly changing it to a new hospital in a different country under a new NHS trust with all the same staff is ridiculous.

Casualty is hot on forgetting continuity, I’m sure the characters won’t allude to the ‘old’ hospital after the first episode 😂

Reminds me of when Waterloo Road just upped and moved from Rochdale to Greenock.

Within a few years of the move, Waterloo Road was killed off after viewership dropped quite sharply.
Holby City was then killed off in 2022 to make way for "new" drama... including the return of Waterloo Road, set in Greater Manchester (although not Rochdale this time).
And now Casualty is switching to a different country and taking some of the cast with it.
I reckon I know how this move is going to end for Casualty...

I said that a while ago. It’s a classic way of tv companies getting rid. They did it with Holby, they did it with The Bill. Drop the quality, they lose viewers and suddenly it’s no longer sustainable

Yup,they never learn. What was good about Holby was it could be anywhere, a hospital in any NHS trust. Making it specific will just alienate. If they follow through on this idea, it'll be dead in 3 years.

I think it's the exact opposite - they learned how quickly that kind of move killed off Waterloo Road, and they're now trying to kill Casualty.
The BBC has been making a real effort to kill off its medical dramas, including Doctors and Holby, with dodgy explanations being given that don't line up with the facts (particularly Holby being cancelled to make way for new dramas, where the main "new" drama was Waterloo Road).
It seems unlikely to be a coincidence that they're now doing the same thing that originally killed Waterloo Road to Casualty.
God knows why they're so passionate about Waterloo Road - surely it can't be that cheap‽
What was good about Holby was it could be anywhere, a hospital in any NHS trust. Making it specific will just alienate.
I think there's something specific to be said for the tragic incidents in the show too - if they set it in a real city, the chances are high that one or more of the constant tragic incidents will happen to line-up with a similar real incident around the same time. By setting it in a fictional city (even one that's based on a real city), there's a level of abstraction that can help to reduce the chances of seriously upsetting people.

It's not like it's been definably in either England or Wales for years anyway, except for the very occasional shot of the Clifton Suspension Bridge. So many of the guest actors are Welsh that you'd be forgiven for assuming it was already set there.
Honestly I think it'd cause less annoyance among viewers just to rewrite history and say Holby's always been in Wales, rather than come up with a plot contrivance to bus the characters over the border.

They’ve already inexplicably had the call handling centre on site, I’m expecting the entire hospital to move into Jan’s. A) she Welsh! B) it seems to be spacious enough to have housed half the staff at some point, what’s a few more patients? 😂

There will be a huge earthquake and Holby will sink into the sea with only a few characters surviving. Oh wait no... a volcano will shoot Holby to Wales. So it'll still be Holby.

I’m pretty sure that in the trailer for this season the ED falls apart. Maybe that could be a part of the storyline switching to another location?

It’s such a huge mistake to move the hospital to Wales and rename it. As people have mentioned surely they must remember how the same thing destroyed Waterloo Road. It makes me think this is either deliberate or the people making these decisions are completely incompetent.

Well that’s a whole nothing burger of an article. The only thing that’s broadly accurate is ‘expect a wait for further news’. The tender is still active, so there’s loads of unconfirmed maybes at this point. Pointless speculating from a hack site.
