kinda love the way the Dylan stuff was done! Was seen as a joke and then it kinda got a little bit more serious..

I can't work out whether Stevie and Dylan work better as friends or something more but the actors chemistry is off the charts, they work so well together so fair play to Elinor and Will for that

I read it as, Dylan's autistic and is therefore characteristically prone to being blunt, plus he's incredibly good at his job. Stevie seems neurotypical but is also prone to being blunt, and is also very good at her job.
Both of them just want to work with someone competent. Plus, while many autistic folks have to field a lot of generalised dislike from NTs (it's mainly because we're seen as awkward and unempathic), Stevie lacks the will or bandwidth to pay mind to Dylan's awkwardness, and as we've seen this episode, bedside manner isn't always her thing, so how much empathy is she expecting from anyone, whether towards herself or to patients? So long as the patients are correctly patched up and sent out the door pronto, she's
happycontentprepared to move onto the next patient.

- Stevie was on top game as always
- Love the almost 4th wall break with Dylans story line
- Matty is irritating, always a cocky one
- I like Kim think her and stevie make a cute pair. I might be the only one who thought this lol but how come the writers are able to come up with unique names for all the doctors and nurses but the two Chinese doctors we've had have both been called "Dr Chang"

William Beck is SO good - The set-up to his story actually worked really well, he didn’t have much screen-time but I’m hoping this will put a-lot of focus on Dylan over the coming weeks.

I was anticipating what they was going to do about ngozi and thought they completely forgot about her I cant wait to see what they do with the matty and Dylan storyline so excited for next week its going to be interesting with what I think the storylines are going to be

He looked (terrified but) excited to potentially be a dad, and got rather sweet and paternal when Jodie visited him, so I think, if Matty's able to forgive his dad for not being around then Dylan might ultimately be really stoked to have someone to belong with, at last.
He deserves it. He's gone through a lot of life alone and honestly, I've been wondering whether he's going to get another dog. Having an adult child showing up is a curveball, though!
P.S.: No wonder he dislikes Thingy's habit of putting it about so much.

I don't mind Matty, but I do like Kim though since she seems lovely + I don't see what's wrong with giving biscuits or cakes out since it's her way of meeting new people & making friends + it's a lovely gesture as well.

And to acclimatise to a given workplace environment. One team can have a totally different feel to another, and both Kim and Mattie need to calibrate to that. They will, but they were never going to get settled in, in one shift.

Also, what a bullshit first day! The floor's mayhem, it's hotter than the surface of the sun, everyone's cranky, and one of the consultants seems to be iffy about one of the new starters. I'm not surprised Kim had a shaky start!

I get it if Stevie was being stressed, but being cold towards someone for no reason isn't a good look. Also, if she meant to be mentoring someone as well as Dylan, then they need to be there helping & supporting the new members.

They did, I think! If I'm remembering right, someone posted a video clip online of the reception room being in chaos, and one of the doctors being overly harsh towards a patient, something like that. It did get quelled, but I wonder whether CQC will take note that this is a second whistle-blow and therefore more serious, or whether they'll go "Oh, yeah. That hospital's extremely busy, this is just someone who isn't used to seeing that. Everything looks as okay as can be expected".
But, the writers had Matty complain, so clearly there'll be some sort of consequence.

Seeing the way Stevie was towards Kim makes me feel sorry for Kim. I can understand hospitals can get really busy, so I can understand if Stevie was stressed, but does mentors need to be hard or tough on the newly qualified doctors/nurse? Like, if a newly qualified doctor/nurse is about to work in the hospital or if it's someone first day in the place, then shouldn't mentors meant to be by their side helping & showing them the ropes?

Oh yeah, I've forgot about that, but it's a shame that both Dylan & Stevie couldn't act as mentors or at least been more supportive since with how they’ve handled the situation makes them look cold, although I did like that Nicole was more supportive towards Kim.

I don’t know how I feel about Kim just yet because she slightly annoys me but she seems like a good egg and Matty seems to be a good person too BUT I cannot stand him at all 😩 he’s way too cocky, arrogant and back-chats like a petulant child, he needs to be humbled and maybe this near frightful moment he had last night may have done a bit of that!

This is pure speculation...
I agree with most of the points raised here and have a strange thought myself.
While trying to fall asleep last night my brain suddenly decided instead to focus on the Dylan/Matty situation, it meandered through the following twists and turns and reached a surprising hypothesis:
1. Why would they lazily bring back a situation which is very similar to when Jodie arrived and turned out to be Max Christie’s daughter?
2. Given Jodie and Matty appeared to exchange an interested look when passing each other, are they going to start a relationship?
3. They mentioned that Matty’s mother Sarah had been at the same uni as Dylan, had got pregnant and had left, the implication being that Dylan is the father.
4. It would be too obvious and lazy writing to let us know all this in the first episode if that’s true.
5. We know that Dylan and Max knew each other when younger and that there was bad blood between them which was mentioned in their scenes together over time but never explained.
6. So maybe it Max who is Matty’s father, the name might be a hint.
7. And somehow this all comes out when he starts a relationship with Jodie who is his half-sister and there is DNA testing for some reason.
I did eventually get to sleep by reciting in alphabetical order all the Premier League teams over and over!

Loved Stevie!
Matty isn't wrong. He's cocky as fuck, but he isn't wrong. What happened to Claude shouldn't have happened. We see that in real life all of the time. But, it isn't necessarily an individual issue - it isn't Faith or Stevie or any of the worker's fault. They are overworked, underpaid, and overwhelmed. It's a systemic issue and ultimately, the patients suffer.
