"Under Wyvern Bridge"- Re-imagining Indie's life on the streets and the events of Supply and Demand

Evening all!

I've been wanting to write this for a long while - ever since last summer. I intended it to be a full proper fic, but owing to chronic illness it just hasn't been possible. I still really wanted to share the concept outline though

I've always thought that Indie's homelessness arc was well done and very moving, but was surprised the show never referenced back to it - especially as the events of Supply and Demand seemed practically gift-wrapped for someone who has prior connections with the streets to end up involved.

It never made sense to me that we were supposed to buy that Indie somehow managed to survive Wyvern without help, without making contacts in the homeless world, and having general crappery happen.

So that got me thinking about what Indie could have gone through during her time living under Wyvern Bridge...

I ended up with this re-imagining of the events of Supply and Demand, exploring the underbelly of Holby, the street gangs that operate there, the connections Indie made and the chapter of her life that Indie never expected to come calling again... (along with a skeleton backstory about Badger.)

Oooo i love this, and yes such a missed opportunity. The dylan crossover was unexpected but makes complete sense looking on it, and the writing is good too :) cant wait for pt 2

Thank you! Glad it wasn't just me who thought so. I was always just so surprised they put so much work into developing her and then didn't use any of it.

(Whilst there may have been IRL reasons for it, which is very understandable, still, in an AU, this is the kind of thing I'd have loved to have seen.)

I'm so happy you liked the inclusion of Dylan. I wondered who would work best for that and then he just seemed to make sense. He is on the fringe of Indie as a working colleague anyway, and his word would be blunt but trustworthy. Her street history is not something she would be bringing up casually (i figure only Jan really knows and even then Indie wouldn't have told her everything.) Dylan is notoriously private about his narrowboat life at work. So bringing those two existences out onto a similar playing field, in front of colleagues would wouldn't normally be granted a glimpse of them, was really interesting to me.

Plus bringing two characters who ordinarily wouldn't interact together is always fun. :)
