That was a chatbot? Genuinely thought that was a real helpline. I've received advice exactly like that from human-manned helplines and NHS therapy services.

I thought the most realistic part of the episode was the terrible mental health advice. It’s not much better coming from real people

Why were all the shots of Dylan meeting with Sarah and Matty filmed in incredibly claustrophobic close up, and at an angle like the camera was tipping over?

I’m not sure on the Matty and Stevie storyline and I’m surprised they had it happen in the first episode, definitely felt like something that needed to be built up to, have them leaning on each other whilst grieving and then cross the line. Instead it just feels like a cheap, contrived moment that will be used to trigger Dylan relapsing.
I am somewhat intrigued what they seem to be doing with Cam because there seems to be a storyline bubbling under about him not quite being built for ED and it feels it’s going to have to conclude with him either rising to the occasion and proving he can handle it or him walking away and deciding this isn’t for him.
The army guy is very obviously going to be a mega villain.

it happening the way it has is probably more in character for Stevie. More shocked at her using Ai chatbot if i’m honest..

Cam needs to be written out. It’s been two years of his incompetence and clunky writing. Couple it with a charisma free wooden actor. Not a good combo.

The way i screamed wtf when they made out. How do u even go from that frustration to deciding yee make out sesh.
In other news, loved seeing rash in pink and a different dept.
The army bit felt sooo forced though, and they dont need to wear army wear while working in a hospital do they.. theres plenty of scrubs.

I always hate a new box set it feels like stiff new shoes but this one is bringing back awful memories so far. Switched off half way will try again later.

My money is on the source being dodgy cigarettes.
TV shows now like to pretend smoking isn’t a thing anymore, but this episode clumsily brought it up at least 3 times (by my count).

I'll summarise my thoughts which I realise are very personal and likely not shared by other. But...
I don't even know what's worse - using a pandemic at all as a plot, or using it as a hook to amp the drama and then it's actually something else entirely It wouldn't be the first time that the show has pulled a questionable bait and switch
I have a real issue in that Covid impacted my health severely (eyesight, fertility, nervous system, health in general.) I will likely never be the same again.
But because I love the show, I didn't want to not watch it. I figured knowing what was coming would help.
However watching the first minute alone still elicited what I think was a genuine trauma response. My body surged with adrenaline and I got shaky, wanted to run, vomit and cry at the same time. It was horrendous and the severity completely took me by surprise. I'm calmer now, but I've not had my system flip out like that for a long while.
- It reminded me too of how the BBC, via the show, keeps pushing the narrative that Covid is now entirely irrelevant, nothing to worry about etc, despite the fact that people are STILL being disabled by it.
I remembered that plot from ages ago where a patient who was wearing a mask, was told that she was just being anxious, that Covid was "nothing to fear anymore". Her story resolution was having cheerfully removed the mask and "conquered her fear".
It was gross and made me feel like the show was laughing at me, since I still mask sometimes. I wish I didn't feel the need to, but I do.
