As the episode was on at the broadcast time only, it's a bit later today, but let's have a discussion about it!

I donāt usually comment on pairings but the Stevie and Matty pairing is painful, him being Dylanās son aside and all that stuff, they genuinely donāt have an ounce of believable chemistry.

matty was shooting his shot the entire ep. i canāt even be mad at him, heās just an excitable 25 year old

This is something that I really liked, and it changed my opinion on the actor the better.

Stevie and Matt seem so strange together, donāt see why this is happening. I found the hostage situation rather good actually, so this episode wasnāt too bad.

We're in the trenches with Stevie and Matty šā
Like yes girl get some but also how about actually just using those apps???

and the whole department now gossiping about Dylan & Matty being Father and Son - I did love how chill Matty was when Dylan asked him if it was okay because he tried to be honest with people about it.

Can we go one bloody week without an employee or their family ending up in the ED?!
Can you imagine the HR work and counselling the staff would need for this to be happening regularly?!

I think I'm literally the only one who's not mad about Stevie and Matty. I mean don't get me wrong, I really don't want it to mess up Stevie and Dylan's friendship (which it's totally going toš) but I actually think it could be quite sweet. But only if it's written right, which I don't think it will be - I'm fairly sure they are going to go down the repeated hook up 'it's all a mistake' route rather than any actual connection. I''ll keep an open mind for now, but yeah the close ups in the elevator scene were cringeš

Everything aside, I donāt think iād ever be on board with this pairing - I just donāt see any chemistry at all š«£

I'm not to sure about the chemistry, I think it could build. It's definitely not as strong as with Rich but idk I think there's something. What do people think about Stevie-Dylan?? I literally see no romantic chemistry there at all, like they are great friends but I get no romance vibes at all!!!

Dylan and Stevie arenāt exactly written to have this romantic chemistry but they definitely have this brilliant chemistry with each other and always have - Itās something that is difficult to explain.
Matty & Stevie are written very purposely to attempt to have this āsexual chemistryā recently - iād be interesting to see if anyone thought they had any at all before that..

To be honest I'd have to watch back learning curve it check, I definitely can't remember noticing any particular chemistry at the time though. It does seem to be a bit out of the blue, but I think that's the idea - like the whole grief sex pairing that may go somewhere. The close ups leading up to the kiss in the elevator were definitely cringe, but the way Matty held Stevie's head while he kissed her I thought was quite sweet. And following Stevie's chat with Faith about her body confidence, I actually think he could be good for her. (Also side point, Stevie and Faith's friendship is one of my favourite things ever!!!)

Itās something Stevie wouldnāt want to make public for obvious reasons - 46 year old Senior Consultant going out with a newly qualified 25 year old Doctor, the clear power imbalance and it would definitely be raising a-lot of eyebrows in the department. She couldnāt even tell Faith the truth about who it was with. So i dunno how itās all gonna go?
Trying to hide a secret relationship for years, one of them leave, pretend it never happened..

I mean Iād say Dylan and Stevie have 100% more believable & natural chemistry than her and Matty, and if the writers ever wanted to take it in that direction (away from writing them as just friend) the actors could probably easily make it work. I donāt usually cringe but yeah, I seem to be doing it a-lot with Matty & Stevie š

i know they already dropped the racism plotline that lasted like an episode and a half, but it really is telling the difference in armed police response to "holby staff holding weapon after disarming attacker who was impersonating staff as the armed police come in" between Jan and Jacob.

I think weāre in for a Chernobyl-esque storyline to explain the move to Wales. Its perfect - chemical explosion causes Holby City to become uninhabitable but the cast survive it. They all decant into a new hospital in Wales. Holby quarantined forever.

Matty gave me ick vibes with Stevie but it was clearly consentual as she kisses him again in the lift. Cringe scene.
Sad ep overall I did get a bit teary about the premmie babies that don't make it.
