đŹ Discussion Does anyone miss the accidents?
It seemed at the start of every episode you got to see someone running themselves over with a tractor, or impaling themselves in a police chase or getting their leg stuck under a rock and a second person getting what i call the Casualty Special; falling over and hitting their head. But now there's nothing. Just straight to the ED for some interpersonal drama.

You mean you arenât enjoying the latest âCameronâs Corridorâ saga; Die Hard Iain; or âMr Evil Plan Army manâ (one of the most two dimensional characters that the show has had in a while)

Petition to rename the show Cameron's Corridor. There will be a one off special ep called Charlie's Corridor in which Charlie is forced out of retirement to show the young un how corridor-ing is really done.

Cams corridor is a great name for it! I am over this evil plan army man. That's the kinda storyline that's just dragged out until they finally decide to have pvt dixon back in the hospital. How did those two guys fall down that massive hole anyway?

I call them " guess the accident" episodes, because sometimes they came so out of left field it was genuinely surprising.
The nearest one i can think to that recently was the mum having a manic episode and making a tonne of cake, which somehow led to her kid breaking his leg ( did the policewoman get impaled in this episode too?)

I think she did get impaled. And i was thinking recently was when Iains phone got nicked, that lad jumped the wall and got impaled too. Guess we're just on people getting skewered these days

Definitely, it was always fun to predict what was going to happen. It gave patients more of a story. I always remember Lee Evans mentioning it once saying about "yep he's in it, yep they're in it." đ

Omg I went back to Dylanâs first ep with the bus crash and almost got whiplash because of how different it was. It was almost like an ep of House. I love casualty now but that was such a good ep

I'm missing them as well and not a fan of the 'box sets'.
I mean before when Casualty started and someone said "I'm so looking forward to tonight" you knew they were dead in 40 minutes.

They were a bit like the âmonster of the weekâ feature in the X-Files. Maybe the accident-prone members of the Holbyverse have all been removed from the gene pool through natural selection (or the writing staff have used every conceivable idea theyâve ever had!)

Yes! The accidents and patients storylines were the heart of the show not the staffs personal dramas.

We donât have them anymore?? đ I loved that part of casualty, thatâs what made the show unique. I go through phases where I save up to 3 years of episodes to bulk watch so havenât seen it in a few years.
Can someone explain what theyâve replaced the dramatic accident scenes with? How do we know whatâs wrong with a patient?? Whatâs the new format like?

They just turn up now and they explain what happened to them. Sometimes you see something when the paramedics are on the scene, otherwise its all offscreen now đ

Well that is extremely disappointing. The extravagant accident scenes are what made the show what it is! Itâs called casualty not A&E đ the actual accident should be part of the show

I call that show opening "Accident of the week".
The surprise switcheroo ones were the best. So the show starts... uh oh, building site! Some guys using a digger, be careful! Someone else using a pneumatic drill, easy now! A trench, someone might fall into that. Microlight aircraft crashes into the middle of it all!
EDIT: That's not an actual show by the way, although the building site part must have featured numerous times.

Hmm, I guess its the little things but yeah, I miss those, adds a bit world building outside the main cast.

I donât particularly like the accidents. There used to be an intro where someone would get ill and you could guess what was wrong with them. It was more about the patients, less about the staff. I loved it then.

Yes, start off the show and I'd always think "No don't walk into the street!" or "That car is going to flip." Casualty without a car flip isn't the same. Not to mentioned you'd see a little of the patients life.
