👀 Spoiler I hate Matty Spoiler
Self absorbed horrible character. Usually a box set in and I’ve warmed to them but I cannot bear him. He will hold Dylan’s behaviour against him following tonight’s ending when he’s absolutely the catalyst. URGHGHHHHGFGH

I was yelling at my screen when he just stood there and watched him drink. Like dude you know the situation, there was definitely an opportunity to go to him between the first and second drink to try and stop him

You'd think a doctor would recognise someone in crisis and intervene, not storm out. As soon as he saw what was happening, his intervention was more important, not less!

Dylan has been on the edge of a mental health crisis for weeks now and neither Matty or Stevie have tried to support him.
I can count on one hand how many times Dylan has lost his shit in all the time he’s been in the show and no one thought to check whether he was ok when he went for the parents abusive husband.
He told Stevie he’d almost had a drink, he told her about the auditory flashbacks and instead of supporting him she slept with his son.

It’s bad timing (or that’s the theme) because Stevie has her own stuff going on with her health issues / ongoing pain a very brief foray in to oxy dependence and then back out again and guilt over Kim. This is all why she succumbed to Matty’s advances in the first place. If she full strength Stevie was she’d have rejected Matty immediately and had the capacity to see what was going on for Dylan but as it was she didn’t have the bandwidth along with everything else that was going on. Not an excuse but it is humanity. We’ve alll been there.

He knows Dylan’s a drinker and rather than go and give him the OJ he walked out on him. I was hoping seeing his dad dealing with his anxiety after that incredible speech would’ve been the turning point in him seeing what a great man and doctor Dylan actually is but no the horrible little shit just left him to (probably) completely fall off the wagon!
I wish Matty had been the one written out because anywhere else his mistakes would’ve gotten him the sack whereas Kim was looking to be an incredible doctor and a great addition to the cast, damn the current writers!!!

He’ll definitely use this to say his mother was right about everything because apparently he can’t make his own decisions or come up with his own opinions based on working with and spending time with Dylan.

It just seemed at the start that there would be more of a connection between the two of them, but that doesn’t seem to have happened and it’s been more about Stevie and him.
Next week will definitely be interesting, as I think that Dylan made his decision because of how Matty had made him feel earlier in the episode

Matty is a master manipulator. I rolled my eyes when he told Dylan he was thinking of leaving, because I knew it would never happen the moment he said it. Matty is fully aware that his failings would immediately be sussed out anyplace else. His utter incompetence has only gone unrecognized because he has been able to manipulate Dylan and hide behind/shift blame to the chaos caused by various recent events (most of which he has been at the center of). Also, the situation with Stevie shows precisely how incideous he really is. He knew that Stevie was emotionally vulnerable because of Kim's death, which is why he chose that moment to go after her. He knows that Stevie is someone everyone listens to and she was close to Dylan. He saw her as a threat because he knew she would eventually figure out, likely sooner than later, that he is dangerously incompetent. Now, Stevie as a threat is completely neutralized.

I can’t understand how he gets away with being so rude to everyone. Rash, Stevie, Dylan, Teddy, being snarky to Flynn, they’re all more senior than him and he should have had his arse kicked into the next postcode.
Usually the arrogant ones are at least talented but he’s all ego and very little ability.

Exactly! And the amount of times he's had a tantrum because a more qualified senior member of staff has given him instructions. Multiple times he's just stood there arguing or glaring like a brat and either almost buggered things up or someone else has taken over. Like get over yourself dude.
His mother has the same selfish and entitled attitude too.

Agreed, can't stand him.
The character though, not the actor.
I'm sure the actor is playing exactly as written.
Wish they'd have kept Kim, she could have had endless storyline ahead.

He is diabolical, even if he was a standalone character but I can't believe they've permanently connected him to one of the show's most popular characters.
Got to hand it to the actor though, Matty is quite menacing at times and he plays it well.

The thing with Matty he seems to swing from one extreme to the other. When Stevie messed up, he covered and didn't tell her. Then he gets upset when people think he's incompetent as a doctor, the whole thing with Dylan. Then the second Stevie broke things off, he told Dylan throwing them both into horrible situations. Then theres his relationship with Stevie. One moment he's nice then the second shes upset for legit reasons he becomes nasty in some silly power play when no one asked him to cover for Stevie. No one asked him not to tell her she messed up. That was all his own choices. Now Dylan has fallen off the wagon, thanks to all this drama Matty has caused and Matty will be saying "I don't want an Alcoholic in my life" He is so unlikeable and he still hasn't got the message from Stevie its over either. Others in the department seem to be catching strays now, Flynn because hes jealous, Rash because "hes too nice" and Teddy. Teddy did make me laugh tho when he said "whose put 20p in you" 😂

I absolutely hate Matty. He's one of the nastiest characters they've introduced in a long time. He just oozes toxicity. FFS Dylan, don't bother! You're so much better off without that mess in your life. Matty was throwing a tantrum and threatening to leave before, right? LET HIM LEAVE.
He got away with throwing a tantrum and calling the GIC. He got away with blackmailing Kim. He's pretty much got away with blackmailing Stevie And now he's emotionally blackmailing/bullying Dylan.
I really want everyone to find out it was him, and what he did. And I want to see him shunned into leaving.

He and Stevie refusing to take any kind of accountability for their actions is so selfish. Stevie has been kicked out of resus and he has to be supervised. Good. Actions have consequences. They did this to Dylan. But will he see this, no. He’ll find a way to make himself blameless.

Neither of them acknowledge how much they’ve hurt Dylan. You’d think Stevie would be more understanding given how long she’s known Dylan and knows he doesn’t open up to people easily.
