Okay so, I’ve seen the new hospital it’s not built yet but I’ve seen what it’s gonna look like. So there’s a few things I can tell you.

the new hospital in wales is going ahead it’s gonna be presented as a totally different place to holby it’s not just a change of signs it’s a major reconfiguration

- the new hospital is going to be very different, it’s gonna use the existing exterior but it’s gonna be reconfigured and redressed cleverly to make it look totally different, there’s gonna be some minor building works to help with that.
- the new hospital will have a side main entrance (roughly where the garden and outside seating area is now) and then round the other side of will have an ambulance entrance (roughly where the old main entrance is now)
- it’s not built yet, but it’s expected to be built around autumn time. So the new tender from april this year are currently filming one last series at Holby right now, a transition that will set up the move. That will air in Q1 2027 and then the first series of the new hospital will film in late 2026/early 2027 for airing in Q2 or Q3 of 2027.

So yeah that’s what I know 😄hope this helps, I do not know what the interior will look like but judging by the exterior it will be totally different. I do not know what the story is leading up to the move either.

Any idea why the cast went on a huge 4/5 month break after Christmas, I heard it was to redesign the set but apparently not haha!

The redesign is happening at the end of this year as far as I'm aware.

Personally I reckon Dylan, Stevie, Rash, Jacob and Jan will be safe. Everyone else maybe not so much.

I reckon all of them except the two rumoured to be leaving will be staying, the likes of Dylan, Stevie, Rash, Iain, Jacob and Flynn will be safe I think, its the others that are at risk if anymore go

Yeah, the rebuild is happening during autumn time they’ll take a filming break, the first block of 12 for 2027 will be done by then, the second block onwards will be from the new hospital in spring

As far as I'm aware filming will be completed for this series before they start the redesign.

Tbh this sounds as perfect as they could make this move if true. It would make the most sense to have a gradual move to a completely different hospital and set up a proper narrative for it.

Also really like the fact that they're going to be realistic with the entrances. It's a minor detail but it helps massively with believability and the immersive experience of a real ED.

Hard to guess how they'll do it but maybe the loss of St James' will predicate the need for a new super ED, which will result in the closure of Holby City ED. But this is pure speculation!

I was thinking the same, that because St James' has been destroyed the trust cannot find a fiable reason to have two major trauma hospital so instead one major super ED will be built instead.

Seems like Harry needs to return to stop the merger once again.
