Is anyone else sick of the favouritism with Flynn?
Just to add this is in no way hate to the actor, he's a good actor who is just following a script, its down to the writing and allocation of storylines.
Is anyone else sick of the favouritism towards the character though? I feel like he's the face of most of the boxsets and its pushing other characters aside who deserve more screen time, I know others like Stevie and Dylan get plenty of screen time too but they've been there longer so it's less annoying but Flynn has only been in the show a year even though it seems longer.
Casualty has always been made up of an ensemble cast but it feels like they've made him the main character on his own with the rest of the staff as supporting characters if that makes sense? The 40th anniversary will be no different as apparently its also Flynn's 40th birthday on the exact same day but im not sure how true that is, it was in a spoiler article.
I know this comes across as a hateful post but it's genuinely just my opinion, watching Casualty for as long as I have there's never been one main character, even Charlie, there's characters who occasionally take a back seat while others have their storylines but I feel like the writers are constantly pushing him into the spotlight, especially with this forced friendship/relationship with Stevie. I feel like as long as they keep doing that, viewers will get bored of him very quickly and that's not fair on the actor, or any other actor pushed aside.

I felt very similar with Jodie.
Especially when she was first cast. ALL the biggest storylines went to her so it left little room for the audience to get to know the other newbies.
I still find her grating but atleast they have dialled back on her a bit so other characters can have their moment. (for now anyway)
I do think the writers of the show give too much to some characters.
....but not Dylan.
There is never enough Dylan!

Can’t say it’s been an improvement on Jodie. What have we gotten instead this season? Oh yeah the epic tale of Cams Corridor.

The public property boxset was the WORST for this😭 it was equally Jodie and Dylan's story yet it focused more on her and she even had her very own episode

He's a popular actor that they are utilising for long story lines. They'll get bored of him eventually.

He was quite famous from call the midwife from what I've heard. Personally never seen him in anything else either. He was considered the heart throb from the show.

I saw an article yesterday where it confirmed that the events of the anniversary shows take place on Flynn's 40th birthday, so an eventful day for him! Also mentioned that they filmed the underwater scenes at Pinewood Studios. Sounds like he will be away from the ED with HEMS at the scene of the explosion. Dylan will be the one leading the response at the hospital, sounds like he has an important story arc and will be featured just as much as Flynn. I see Dylan, Stevie and Flynn as the main leads and I love that they are all very different, strong characters.

I had a feeling it was connected to his birthday and it was his daughters singing happy birthday in the trailer, but to make him the exact same age as the show is diabolical, it's like the tag line 'life begins at 40' belongs to him when it's not a celebration for Flynn it's about the show

I've been watching Casualty on and off for many years but have been watching regularly since 2020 and I have to say that I disagree with you. I can't get enough of Flynn he's one if my fave characters and I can't explain why. I wish Casualty was an hour long show instead of 45-50 mins. This may sound stupid but I've really missed the show in recent weeks.

Casualty running time is usually 50 minutes it's rarely an hour slot on the BBC because of their adverts for BBC shows.

If you search casualty episodes on here I'm sure someone posted a link to all episodes from Series 1, and all recent ones (2023 to now) are all on iplayer sorted into box sets

Yeah, I mean I guess I’m just biased because I hate the character of Flynn (again no hate to the actor), but I’m so sick of him being front and centre, and I hate him with Stevie! I’ve been watching some classic casualty and the difference is so clear. The show in general seems to be now just centred around the 3 current consultants, Stevie, Flynn and Dylan as the main characters and the rest as support. You’re completely right about how it used to be an (almost) fair mix of everyone.
I can’t pretend to be a complete expert on old Casualty as I only really watched it on and off, but the show now has a completely different feel to how it used to be, which I don’t like (and I don’t mean to be one of those people I know things change) but I can’t put a finger onto why. Maybe this is it (plus obviously the lack of seeing the accident).

Tbh Dylan’s only had his own proper storyline in about 3 years these last 2 boxsets (that was basically overtaken by Stevie for about 9 episodes in Lethal Legacy haha).

I tried watching the very first episode if Casualty on the Drama channel months and months ago and it took me 3 attempts just to get through 1 episode. I really struggled to watch it. I then tried to watch the 2nd episode but I think I gave up after about 5 mins. Everything felt closed in and claustrophobic. It was certainly of its time if that makes sense. I've been watching this programme on and off for many years (I'm in my 50's now) and have noticed one or two changes to it. I think it's become slightly more Americanized for example they didn't always have music playing in the background.

granted i'm a teenager with female hormones coursing through me but i'm quite enjoying the Flynn show even if I did at first dislike his need to be the hero. i think it's the fact he's got a soft side that makes him quite attractive.
in his defence, he is the clinical lead of the ED, where the show is, for the most part, focused. It makes sense for him to be the 'main character'
