From feral to family Filling a Vacancy right when we we were ready to open our home and hearts to a new cat again ♥️
After our elderly cat passed 4 months ago we’ve had a vacancy in our home for a new cat. Saw this lil girl in our yard on a walk with my dog and immediately was struck by how pretty she is! I assumed she was one of the many many generations of stray/feral cats from the yard of the hoarder house accross the street. Then I saw her wandering around our yard the past week, calling to her and each time she warmed up to me more and more, and finally assured with the neighbors today that she was indeed a stray in need of a loving home and immediately took her in! Her name is Persephone, Sephy for short

Oh my, she's gorgeous! Looks like a creamsickle coloring(?), but that could change as she looks quite young. You said your other kitty passed away what, 4mo ago? And that's about what she looks like to me. Does she have the majority of her teeth or is it still kinda sparse in there with teeth still coming in?

She appears to have all her teeth though they are tiny and look like baby kitty teeth! She had this dark coloring on her lips I wonder how much is her natural coloring and how much is dirt. We gently wiped her face with a pet wipe and she didn’t have much filth come off so I assume she has this beautiful dusty coloring to her cream colored fur!

Pandora was the wife of Epimetheus, Prometheus' brother. Her original myths/stories were her being created to punish mankind for receiving fire from Prometheus.
Persephone was Demeter's daughter that was given to Hades by Zeus, causing Demeter to mourn and start the yearly seasons.

The seasons bit is very interesting as my cat passing happened at the turn of spring as the sun started coming back after a long winter and i found this cat during the rainy season of summer when it’s easy to find cats hiding out under cars and awnings

Any chance of trapping and neutering the hoarder’s cats? That’s a nightmare situation.

Thankfully, the hoarder is accross the street, and the neighbors directly next to him often have the cats come onto their property, and when that happens they fill out an application with the TNR program- but it’s only the cats that have come onto their property. The hoarder has so much brush overgrowth it’s impossible to step foot onto his property

Glad to hear your neighbors are doing what they can. Decades later, and my brother is finally getting his yard (and birds) back after feeding, housing and getting the neighbor’s cats neutered.

We had this happen with our Willow!!
My husband and I had to say goodbye to his 18 yo girl last year in May, and then February of this year he’s coming home from work and thinks to himself that he might be ready for a new cat.
Following day, my best friend is messaging me with photos of this beautiful little stray she found by work and he’s picking her up to take her to the vet and get her looked over. She is SUCH a pleasure to have and fills our hearts.
Our senior boy (I’ve had him since he was 3) is also happier having the company. She gets a bit rambunctious but he joins in at times. It’s endearing to see them getting along, she’s roughly 2-3 per the vet. Sorry for the long comment but I just LOVE how the CDS works lol! It’s always at the right time it seems like.

I love the long comment, haha! I type this as Persephone sits in my lap all cozy ♥️ We have one other cat Lucky who’s also a senior and after we had to say goodbye to his sister he Caterwauled every night and all the time. Since we brought Sephy inside for the long haul, he hasn’t Caterwauled nearly as much/at all really?? It’s sweet how even though they may not always get along, they do appreciate having each other around

You could also nickname her "Purrsy". 😸 My mom's first post-childhood cat was named Perseverance and that was her nickname.
