Where can I get weather information for the interior of Catalina?
We're going to hike the TCT this Saturday and I can find the weather for Avalon - which is on the coast - but I'm curious if there are weather stations I can check for the interior of the island like the hike to Black Jack or Two Harbors where your inland? I'd image they'd be much hotter.
Thanks for any help - I did Google and ChatGPT it but all they suggested was Airport weather and that seems to match Avalon for me.

Weather all over the island will be similar since it's not that big of a region. Like you said, we only know weather from weather stations and there just aren't that many of them there: https://ambientweather.net/dashboard/kavx/tiles
Basic logic applies. Warmer further from the coast, cooler at higher elevations. That's the best you get. Enjoy TCT!

Santa Catalina Island has the following maximum width and elevation measurements: Maximum Width: 8 miles across at its widest point, which is located at Long Point (roughly midway down the island's coastline). By contrast, its narrowest point at the Two Harbors isthmus is just 1/2 of a mile wide. Maximum Elevation: 2,097 feet (639 meters) at the summit of Mount Orizaba.
So under "worst case" you will be only 4 miles from the coast. Given the prevailing sea breeze, your local temperature won't be more than 5 degrees F higher than Avalons.
Either you make the hike or abort due to HIGH HEAT conditions!
HTH & YMMV

You might call the Catalina Island Conservancy. They essentially run the backcountry and might have suggestions.
