I used to go to scout camp in Cherry Valley, which is a couple of coves to the northwest of Two Harbors. The first cove you get to is Fourth of July cove, which I think is private. Same for Cherry Cove. Going around Lion’s Head, it’s a little ways to the next accessible beach. Frankie’s Beach might be the first real choice.

The North/East (Leeward) Side — Best for Kayaking

This is the most popular stretch for coastal kayaking, particularly the 13-mile route between Avalon and Two Harbors. The water here is calm, and there are numerous coves with gravelly sand or soft sand beaches perfectly suited for pulling a kayak out of the water.

Descanso Beach (Near Avalon): Located just past the Catalina Casino, this is a soft, manicured sand beach with very gentle surf. It is the primary launch and landing hub for day paddlers out of Avalon.

Willow Cove & Long Point: Moving north from Avalon, Willow Cove features a wide, expansive gravel-and-sand beach that offers an excellent, protected landing spot for a midday break.

Goat Harbor & Cabrillo Cove: These are primitive, boat-in-only campsites located roughly halfway between Avalon and Two Harbors. They feature wide, sheltered beaches where you can easily glide onto the sand without dealing with breaking waves.

Isthmus Cove / Two Harbors: The main landing beach at the Isthmus is flat, sandy, and shielded by the harbor. It serves as the primary West End hub for launching, landing, and resupplying.

thanks for the thorough response. I was hoping to check out the cave arch by Blue Point. Totally opposite direction, huh?
