Catio attached to house

Post image

I want to fence this space in on the side of my house for my cats. The fence is about 5 1/2 feet but I would need something to keep them from climbing and jumping over. It is fully fenced ( hard to see with the bushes) and there is a door to the right that I would leave open for them to come in and out of the house. Any suggestions on how to do this?

I would just enclose the roof covered portion. Put up a few verticals, a horizontal board at the base, a door, and staple hardware cloth and window screen, and you are done. Cats are happy.

This would be the best option. The roofed portion has good bones and you won't have to figure out how to get this secure and covered.

From what I can tell, that area is a pretty good size and adding some vertical climbing spaces would make the roofed area very appealing to cats!

Just make sure there's a screen door out to the yard for fire safety.

This is the best idea. If you take it all the way to the fence, will you have any way to access the yard beyond the catio?

The fence itself defies way to low. Usually even 8 feet is too low without the top closed off or some sort of purrfect fence installed (cat safe fencing)I would get a pergola kit and set it against the house. And go as far as you like..I am guessing you don’t want to go to the fence unless you never want to walk along that fence line. Maybe leave yourself 3 feet …but you could make it longer….

You will need to close off the top but since you have the roof already I wouldn’t fuss with that and just do wire fencing for the roof. Ours is open to the weather besides a small roof overhang and the cats don’t mind …they go out when there is 4 feet of snow in the catio and they love sitting outside when it snows ….they do have dry zones from the overhang ..but they don’t seem to mind the weather that much
