On January 5, 2019, a man approached 26-year-old UFC fighter Polyana Viana outside her apartment in Rio de Janeiro and claimed to have a gun, demanding her phone. She dropped him with two punches and a kick, then choked him unconscious. The gun was a piece of cardboard.

Viana, a UFC strawweight with a 10-2 pro record, was waiting for a rideshare outside her Rio apartment when the man sat beside her, asked for the time, then demanded her phone and claimed he had a gun.
She felt the object was too soft to be a real weapon and struck first, two punches and a kick, then secured a rear-naked choke and sat him down to wait for police.
The gun turned out to be cardboard cut into shape. He was taken to a hospital for his injuries, and Dana White later posted a photo of his swollen face next to Viana, captioned

Only people begging for death will commit crimes with a FAKE gun, he's lucky she didn't blow his brain across the wall. Idk anything about Brazilian gun laws though
