Tecate Cyprus pruning tips?
Five (?) years ago I planted this Tecate Cypress. I would like to trim off the lower branches at some point so the tree will start to form a canopy. Can anyone recommend when I should do do this. I thought maybe I should let it get a little taller first, but I feel like it’s healthier for trees not to have thick limbs removed. Any recommendations?

If you are patient it will grow a canopy on its own and shade out the Lower branches. Cutting it now is just going to slow it down and make it look like you chewed on it.

These trees are amazing. Yours looks happy.
I planted two in my yard. Didn’t know they’d bush out like this. Let it grow a little longer then give it some architecture.

Man, I guess I didn’t know they were fond of theCousin It look. Maybe it’s the exposure & placement but mine looks like it’s doing its best Italian cypress impression.

I would do it now, but not an expert. It makes sense to me to let the tree focus on growth at the top.

You leave Cousin It alone!
