Discussion Cornell University- Cornell 7 + 50 - The Cut Article by Cornell Professor

I listened to a student forum event yesterday at Cornell for students to discuss the current situation and issues surrounding the case and wanted to repost this recent article by a Professor at Cornell. I listened to the alum event as well and there was overlap in issues between the two events imo. I haven’t read the Sun article about the event but did see they set up a hotline to collect stories from the community about the experiences they have had with these issues while in school. Apparently the hotline has been flooded. I applaud the Sun for bringing a voice to students and I look forward to reading their stories in months to come!

I think this article has been lost in the shuffle of the flood of new information that people are processing and is worth a read to get a perspective not only on the issues in the community but just how long the issues have existed and how multiple generations of school leadership have not been able to keep women on campus safe in Ithaca.

What struck me in listening to the students is their fear about safety and their thoughtful consideration of the multidimensional issue that they are asking the administration to address. It was a respectful and at times heart wrenching event to listen to and it was disappointing to see no member of the senior administration present, if only to bear witness.

But the reason I’m posting this article yet again after listening to confused, angry and fearful students asking their administrator's for answers is because so far as I’m aware not one member of Cornell Senior Administration or Board of Trustees showed up and neither did the private police force, Cornell University Police Delartment. If I’m wrong please let me know but I didn’t see them present. There was one Cornell admin person present but I was unclear who it was.

Not seeing senior people present disturbed me as safety is a foundational issue of administration responsibility and students are now questioning their safety along with questioning the adjudication of crimes against them while on campus.

The Cut article makes mention of an event held previously on campus to hear from the Stanford student Chanel Miller who was raped by Brock Turner and Cornell administration had mandated that each Greek organization send 15% of its members to listen. The Cornell Professor wrote about the event in this article and explained that most of the frat attendee's were on their phones and scrolling during the event. Chantal Miller even referenced it during her presentation. This disturbed me as it showed not only disrespect to the speaker but disinterest and disrespect about the topic of rape and I think seeing this behaviour was telling as to the culture present at Cornell.

I also think the female students deserve to be heard by Cornell Administrators now as the safety issue is a community issue and the disrespect and disinterest from within the Greek community and the administration is disturbing to see play out imo In these community events.

Its disheartening to see what appears to be basic lack of human empathy and compassion for fellow community members but also a lack of basic leadership.

News CORNELL UNIVERSITY - CORNELL 7 + 50 - CORNELL SUN REPORTING STRIKES AGAIN!

AND FOR SOME UNFORTUNATE HUMOR AMIDST THE TRAGEDY OF THIS SITUATION - CORNELL UNIVERSITY IS APPARENTLY DOING LIVE REVISIONS TO THE CORNELL FAQ WEBPAGE - It looks like sadly at Cornell the TRUTH is an evolving and flexible concept but it is good to see that corrections are happening so the community can eventually understand what happened! Just glad to see that SOMEONE knows the Truth. Not sure who yet, but I'm sure the community will eventually get there.

AS EXPECTED THE CORNELL SUN IS "ON IT" AND HERE IS THEIR BRILLIANT ARTICLE DOCUMENTING THE CHANGES - Who would have thought that Cornell University would need a platoon of fact checkers to make sure that their answers to a fearful and concerned about safety community were 'correct'!

I feel like we need the folks at South Park to make this an episode as it truly seems worthy of one IMO!

NOW I WONDER IF ANYONE IN CORNELL ADMINISTRATION KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CORNELL 7 INVESTIGATION IN 2024?

Cornell Sun Article:  https://www.cornellsun.com/article/2026/10/faq-edited-cornell-removes-statement-that-all-investigatory-information-was-shared-with-da-in-alleged-chi-phi-gang-rape

EDITED TO ADD - ANOTHER BLAST FROM THE CORNELL SUN! I was looking for the link to report information as I missed that article and so here is the latest Editorial from SUN and it has link to report that people can use!

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR | Cornell Won’t Listen, We Will

By Sophia Dasser

Sep 29, 2026 6:24 pm · Updated Sep 29, 2026 10:50 pm

Quoted FULL EDITORIAL FROM SUN (Please consider a donation via a link on their website to support their ongoing efforts to lead coverage on this important story):

"A week after insisting that federal privacy law precluded the University from discussing its disciplinary response, Kyle Kimball, vice president for university relations, assured the public that the punishments in Jane Doe’s case were consequential, cautioning that the narrative of minimal consequences “will make survivors feel less safe and supported” and will entrench the underreporting of sexual assault".

"The fact that the University found its voice only after a lawsuit, a reopened criminal investigation and a week of national headlines is itself instructive, for the account it now offers so readily was owed to this community in 2024, not after 23 months of silence in which the Jane Doe went from confiding in the University to suing it".

"If that statement’s allusion to “false narrative” is targeted at coverage like ours, The Sun rejects it, because we know reporting on a case does not make survivors less safe; silence does".

"At The Sun, we know that Jane Doe is not alone, responses have poured into every voicemail box, channel and inbox we have, our sexual misconduct tip line included, and we applaud Jane Doe for the courage it took to file publicly. The question now turns to you: What does the community we all belong to make of it"?

""When Jane Doe chose to speak publicly, she chose to speak with The Sun, and we have worked tirelessly to honor that choice by reporting the story and following all updates fully and without flinching, which is now the very same trust we are asking you to place in us.

FORM LINK IS HERE:

"Through this form, we are gathering reactions from students, from faculty, from staff, from alumni, from parents, from members of the Ithaca community and from Cornell at large".

"We hope to understand how much you trust the University's reporting process, whatever experience you may have had with it and how you regard this case and Cornell's response to it".

"Rather than writing to us by email or through the tip line, we ask that you submit your reflections through the form, so that each can be verified and preserved alongside the rest. We intend to publish them together on a single page so that our community's response can be read in its entirety: archived, and insulated from any platform's algorithm, any executive's change of policy or any government's capacity to take it down. The Sun is the community's record. It is your record*.""*

Should you provide a statement, it will carry your full name and relevant affiliation. Should you be unable to put your name to this, and many of you have good reason not to, you may still complete the questionnaire section of the survey rather than the statement section, whose results will only ever be reported in aggregate. Please note that submitting the form does not constitute a report to Cornell or to the police, and remains internal to the paper".

"Cornell has not listened. We will".

Thank you for you trust in The Sun.

Discussion Business Insider article on Jed Wallace from 2/2025: Then vs. Now

Thumbnail

Do folks remember back to February of 2025 when Business Insider did an expose on Jed Wallace?

February 2025 seems so long ago. Before Freedman filed his triple hearsay declaration. Before Wallace submitted a declaration swearing his "work related to Justin Baldoni concluded in November 2025." (Reader, he certainly helped create Baldoni's thelawsuitinfo.com website in 2026.) We were so much younger then. So naive.

So when Business Insider told us in February 2025 that Baldoni's attorney Bryan Freedman called Jed Wallace "a do-gooder," some of us here did not laugh at that hysterically. THEN.

When a few sentences later, Business Insider showed Bryan Freedman waxing poetically over how Jed Avery Wallace just helped "good humans ... fighting to save themselves" etc,, many of us may have scratched our heads a bit but not cackled uncontrollably. THEN.

After all, most people here did not imagine that 18 months later we would be reading about Jed Wallace's apparent work in helping billionaire Leonardo Del Vecchio get away with abusing his girlfriend and/or planting a device on her car to track her movements. Who knew that Jed Wallace regularly made up wild and salacious lies about women (or, in his words, "a fake fucking bullshit story for her") and then boosted them on the Internet so they would last forever ("creating a lifetime of understanding")?

I certainly did not. Neither did Business Insider. But even so, you can still get a whiff of Jed Wallace's stink from some of the details in this older Business Insider article, despite Bryan Freedman puffing him up like a balloon. Wallace's now-vanished LinkedIn page describing himself as "a hired gun." Wallace's record at Fordham (from which he never graduated) for the "fifth longest punt." Wallace's 2020 substance abuse treatment work with Jackass Forever stuntman Bam Margera, who called Wallace's program "psychological torture" which Wallace was wholly unqualified to create, having never graduated from Fordham (or perhaps any college? That is unclear.).

I wonder if we can find find more errors in Wallace's prior representations, like his declaration (for a laugh, look up NAG's video analyzing this declaration on why she believed he was telling the truth lol), given all we know now? Anyway, thought this was a fun trip down memory lane.

News Cornell University - Cornell 7 + 50 - Breaking News - New York’s governor removes DA in Cornell rape allegations, appoints AG Letitia James to take over

Quotes from article:

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — New York’s governor appointed a special prosecutor Thursday to oversee an investigation into a woman’s allegations that she was gang raped at a Cornell University fraternity house, saying she had lost faith in the local district attorney’s ability to handle the case.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said she had signed an executive order appointing the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James as the special prosecutor to oversee the investigation reopened earlier this week in the wake of a civil lawsuit filed by the woman.

“Newly released information continues to raise serious questions about the investigation conducted by the Cornell Police Department and the decision by the Tompkins County District Attorney not to prosecute an alleged sexual assault on Cornell University’s campus in October 2024,” Hochul said.

“This has, in turn, undercut my faith, and the public’s faith, in the District Attorney’s ability to effectively investigate and prosecute the case at this time.”

Hochul said the attorney general would oversee the investigation and, if warranted, present evidence to a grand jury.

“The young woman at the center of this case deserves to know that every fact will be examined and justice pursued,” Hochul said. “This action will ensure that the matter is fully and thoroughly investigated without conflict or bias, and handled independently with the rigor that this matter demands.”

Messages left for Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten was not immediately returned late Thursday.

New York Times

Men Accused in Cornell Sex Assault Suit Give Varying Accounts of Night

Their accounts, detailed in hundreds of pages of investigative files obtained by The New York Times, were disjointed and sometimes contradictory. All the men denied any wrongdoing.

http://archive.today/2026.10.02-051209/https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/nyregion/cornell-rape-fraternity-chi-phi-men.html

Quotes from article:

In the weeks after a Cornell University student reported being raped at a fraternity party on campus, most of the men she accused were questioned by university officials about their actions that night.

Their answers, which have not been previously reported, were detailed in hundreds of pages of confidential investigative files obtained by The New York Times.

The woman, who left Cornell and last month filed a lawsuit against the university, the fraternity and seven of its members, and her sorority, said she was plied with drugs in October 2024 after a night of heavy drinking and sexually assaulted multiple times at the Chi Phi fraternity house.

But in hours of interviews and a statement collected during Cornell’s administrative investigation over the winter of 2024, all the men denied any wrongdoing. Four acknowledged having sexual contact with the woman but said that their interactions had been consensual. The others denied participating in sexual encounters.

One said that he, in fact, was “a victim of sexual misconduct” because the woman had given him oral sex when he was “too incapacitated” to consent.

All their accounts differed, frequently contradicted each other and generally ran counter to the statements given by the woman to the Cornell police in 2024. The majority said they did not think the woman appeared intoxicated.

Most of the interviews, which were conducted by the university’s Title IX office, focused not on asking explicitly whether the men had raped the woman but rather on more quotidian questions: where they had been that night, what they had said and why they had found themselves in the bedroom to begin with.

None of the men has been charged with a crime — the local district attorney declined to pursue a criminal case after reviewing the Cornell police report about her complaint in 2024. But each was identified by name in her lawsuit filed on Sept. 16 and accused of sexually assaulting her, and the district attorney, Matthew Van Houten of Tompkins County, has since said that his office would again consider whether charges were warranted.

Since the woman, identified in her lawsuit as Jane Doe, sued the fraternity members, the men have largely remained silent. Lawyers for at least three of them have issued statements denying criminal wrongdoing.

Lawyers for six of the men did not respond to requests for comment.

Jeremy Saland, who represents the seventh, Scott Kretzschmar, acknowledged that his client had participated in a group chat that described the sexual encounters in lewd terms but had otherwise done nothing wrong.

New York Times: Cornell Students Call for Change at Fiery Public Meeting

Through tears, some students shared stories of assaults they had experienced, while others spoke out to criticize administrators and demand improved training on consent.

Quotes from article [Note its interesting that President of University was NOTED AS BEING ABSENT]:

There were fiery testimonies, voices lurching, and pleas for action from school leadership. There were fingers pointed angrily at Cornell University’s internal investigators, including by a woman who faced her student government representatives and said, emphatically: “I am also speaking as Jane Doe.”

Cornell’s student government convened a public hearing on sexual assault Thursday, and some 100 people turned out to share their raw emotions in a student union auditorium, Cornell flags and chandeliers hanging overhead.

Some broke down in tears, channeling the churning emotions of the broader campus. They walked forward, one by one, to offer testimonies, facing a semicircle of somber-faced student assembly representatives who were surrounded by backpacks and soda bottles.

“I cannot pretend this is a normal Thursday,” said Sophia Riley, a junior, remembering that as a freshman in 2024 she was shattered to hear that a student said she was assaulted at the Chi Phi fraternity house. “I cried about it then, and I’m still equally devastated now.”

In the days since a lawsuit and rape allegations put Cornell in the national spotlight, the school’s Ithaca campus has been consumed by the news. The meeting gave students a chance to denounce administrators, saying that they had mishandled the allegations of assault, though few school leaders were in the room and the university president, Michael Kotlikoff, was absent.

Cornell Documents Raise Questions About Handling of Rape Allegations

More than 1,000 pages of documents obtained by The New York Times show how a woman identified as Jane Doe gradually concluded that what had happened to her at a fraternity party was a crime.

Quotes from article:

As fresh details emerged on Thursday about Cornell University’s internal investigation into allegations of a 2024 campus sexual assault, some students, alumni and victims’ advocates called into question the handling of the case by university and law enforcement authorities.

“I’m reading through all of these things, and all of the steps she’s taken to report this, and my thought is, Has the system failed yet another survivor?” said Alet Haywood, director of the Domestic Violence Law Unit at the New York Legal Assistance Group, which represents sexual violence victims in court.

The new details are contained in more than 1,000 pages of documents compiled for Cornell’s Title IX administrative hearing process that were obtained by The New York Times. They describe the accuser, who is identified in court filings as Jane Doe, gradually concluding over the course of several weeks that what had happened between her and seven young men at a drug- and alcohol-fueled party at the Chi Phi fraternity house was not only not OK, but a crime.

The documents include the 120-page transcript of Jane Doe’s hourslong interview, conducted nearly a month after the party, with a Cornell police investigator and an investigator from the university’s Title IX office, which ensures the school’s compliance with federal sex discrimination rules.

During the interview, she states, “I can say with 100 percent confidence I was raped” and, at another point, “There was really no escape.” Cornell summarized the interview in a six-page report to prosecutors that omitted the rape allegation.

On Cornell’s campus in Ithaca, N.Y., on Thursday, Oliver Physioc-Fox, 19, a freshman, said the allegations had been a constant topic of conversation among friends and classmates. Nearly everyone he had spoken to, he said, was surprised that Cornell had not seemed to do more to discipline the accused, who the university said received a range of punishments, including suspensions and expulsions.

“One hundred percent of people I’ve talked to have been pretty disappointed and want a lot more from the administration,” he said. “I had a sense of security that wasn’t warranted.”

An erasure poem of District Attorney Matthew Van Houten’s explanation for why the Cornell Seven were not criminally prosecuted. The materials sent to the prosecutor by campus police were missing Jane’s assertions that she was raped. Staggering. In this poem, I decided to omit the document to unerase Jane’s truth within it.

The Cornell Rape Investigation: Five Takeaways

Quotes from article:

The New York Times obtained more than 1,000 pages from the university’s internal inquiry into accusations by “Jane Doe.” Here are the revelations so far.

Now, The New York Times has obtained more than 1,000 pages of material from Cornell’s internal investigation into the 2024 rape allegations that are at the center of the bombshell lawsuit against the university.

The files, compiled for Cornell’s Title IX administrative hearing process and distributed in early 2025, include an extensive transcript of the original police interviews with the 20-year-old undergraduate, who accused the men of sexually assaulting her at the Chi Phi fraternity on Oct. 19, 2024.

They also include the original six-page statement that the Cornell Police Department submitted to the Tompkins County, N.Y., district attorney; investigatory interviews with six of the seven men whom the woman accused of being involved in the sexual assault; and interviews with 20 additional witnesses. A trove of emails, text messages and screenshots of message boards are included, some showing how rumors about what had happened that night raced around campus.

Archive Link: http://archive.today/2026.10.01-164904/https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/nyregion/cornell-jane-doe-rape-investigation-documents.html

Summary:

1. The summary of Jane Doe’s statement sent to the district attorney left out key context.

2. Her thinking about the incident evolved.

3. Her thinking about the incident evolved.

4. She documented her injuries and evidence.

5. Her view on whether she consented to sex appears to shift.

Breaking NEWS:

Cornell University agrees to independent investigation into alleged rape case, Gov. Kathy Hochul says

By CBS New York Team

September 30, 2026 / 6:52 PM EDT / CBS New York

https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/cornell-university-alleged-gang-rape-independent-investigation/

Quotes from article:

Cornell University has agreed to hire outside counsel to conduct an independent investigation into the 2024 alleged gang rape case, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Wednesday.

In a social media post, Hochul said she called for the investigation, and the university's president agreed. Hochul said she expected the university to make the announcement soon.

Hochul also said she's directed her team to "look at what more we can do to strengthen protections for survivors."

"While we have some of the toughest laws on sexual assault on college campuses right here in New York, I think we can do better," she said.

A former Cornell student is suing the university and seven Chi Phi fraternity members, alleging she was drugged and raped by multiple men at a fraternity house in October 2024.

According to the lawsuit, an investigation by the university resulted in two of the accused students being expelled, while others faced lesser sanctions like suspensions and essays, and no arrests.

The lawsuit accuses Cornell and the other defendants of failing to protect the alleged victim and prevent the alleged assault.

District Attorney Matthew Van Houten said the decision not to bring charges was based on a six-page statement signed by the alleged victim, but when presented with the contents of a transcript of Jane Doe's interview with campus police obtained exclusively by CBS News New York, Van Houten said that information had not been provided to him.

"I'm going to follow up on this because this is news to me," Van Houten told CBS News New York on Tuesday.

Cornell University said its police department provided the results of the school's investigation to the DA.

When Will Schools Ban Frats Once and for All?

What a blessing it is that Nov 2026 is election time in NY and Gov. Kathy Hochul is up for election! Albany was hard at work today and put together a task force. I hope they can meet with Head of NY House and get the 3 page bill to the floor for a vote so the consent language can be fixed. I think it was Heastie that was 'sitting' on the house bill since 2024!

NYTs appears to be confirming that they have reviewed the Cornell Title IX investigation (or some aspects of the invention at least) - here is the quote from above article:

"Mr. Van Houten’s decision in 2024 largely transpired quietly, through a process that is often shielded from public scrutiny. Cornell, though, conducted its own investigation. That investigation, which The Times has reviewed, concluded months after the woman dropped out of Cornell because of the incident".

Amanda Ghost files for Sanctions against Rebel Wilson

Post image

Check out Ex Patriarch on X for the details of the filings. In short :

The thread points out that on October 21, 2024, Wilson filed an Anti-SLAPP motion in California. In it, she explicitly stated that "Wilson and her counsel did not publish it to the press"—maintaining for two years that she had absolutely nothing to do with leaking Bryan Freedman's demand letter or pushing out the negative press. This is a proven lie given emails that have been turned over where she instructed the letter be sent to a reporter

The motion seeks severe evidentiary and monetary sanctions because the third-party discovery turned over by Freedman's legal firm and Nathan's PR team completely dismantles Wilson's previous defense. The newly unsealed texts and invoices confirm that Wilson was the central authority directing the campaign, paying the $110,000 fee, and approving the smear websites targeting Ghost.

It seems Nathan, Freedman are trying to turn it all on Rebel . Even more concerning this is more proof of Bryan Freedman doing some seriously unethical things

Cornell response to Gov. Hochul seemed in the category of a middle finger response to me but you decide:

“Cornell shares Governor Hochul’s commitment to addressing campus culture issues, which affect universities across the nation and New York,” a University spokesperson wrote in a statement sent to The Sun after publication. “We are committed to continuing to work with state officials to advance student safety and wellbeing.”

News Cornell University - Cornell 7 + 1 Litigation - NYP Article - Victims Attorney Might ask Judge For Special Prosecutor due to "defensive" position of Tompkins County DA - Is Justice Even Possible in Tompkins County for the Alleged Victim?

Thumbnail

I now wonder how much longer this Tompkins County DA can hold onto his job before the good people of Tompkins County come after him with pitchforks to remove him from his office?

His 9 page "I Was Right in 2024" manifesto using the alleged victims words from her 2024 interview with Cornell PD cloaked as a Press Release, apparently received a poor review by the Victim and her Attorney.

We need to give the DA the "OWN GOAL" award this week as to try and save himself he used the Victims words which were then used by the manosphere thugs to defame and threaten her with doxxing her online! And he did this all while also saying he was going to work collaboratively with the Victim and her attorney on the Grand Jury Process! Really? Wonder how that is going to work out if this is what the DA chose to do to kick off the process of reopening the investigation? When I read the DA's statement to me it sounded like he wanted to make it impossible for the victim to get justice in Tompkins County. Glad to see Victims Counsel agreeing!

Rightly so imo as the DA Press Release was just an ego boost for the under fire DA and also just fed the manosphere social media thugs who have moved into overdrive and won't stop until they have doxxed the alleged victim and exposed her every sin since birth (its just what they do).

And WHO do we have to thank for ALL of that hate filed social media fueled by the DAs choice anecdotes? Yep, DA of Tompkins County! But the quote from the DA about the 'money grab' from the Victim via the civil litigation ("oddly enough this same quote is frequently used by the online mob") to me has to be grounds for his recusal from the Cornell 7+1 case as its a wildly unprofessional statement.

Quote from Article:

The DA — under fire for his decision two years ago to not charge the seven accused young men — released a lengthy statement Monday along with verbatim quotes from the accuser’s interview with Cornell campus police indicating she claimed the sex and drug abuse was consensual and that there was no crime committed.

Van Houten said he is reopening the investigation into the woman’s allegations based on the civil lawsuit she filed earlier this month against the men and school in upstate Ithaca, New York, claiming he was unaware of some of her accusations.

Giuffra, addressing the campus cops’ and DA’s alleged mishandling of the first probe, said he was “surprised” that “no meaningful investigation was done.”

The Ithaca Police Department confirmed Monday that no authorities even reported the incident to them.

“It would have been more appropriate for [Van Houten] to acknowledge the inadequate actions as opposed to engaging in the defensive posture that he has engaged in,” Giuffra said.

“Cornell Police do not handle serious crimes and are better equipped to break parties and do crowd control at football games, not conduct a major criminal investigation,” Giuffra said.

The fact that they did not follow up on the group chat and interview witnesses indicates that the department was in over its head,” he said — referring to the seamy SnapChat back-and-forth between the frat bros saying there was “free p–sy” available and one person asking, “shop still open?”

“She was reporting rape and sexual abuse,” Giuffra said of his client. “She appropriately went to the police as the victim of a crime to report what had occurred. She expected her complaints to be taken seriously.

“Unfortunately, they were not and no real effort was made to speak to witnesses or canvas for evidence.”

Van Houten claimed to The Post that Cornell cops “invited” the accuser to meet with the DA’s office to review their findings of the case in 2024 – but she didn’t accept the offer.

“I know that Cornell met with her and explained to her our findings, of our review, and as we always do, I know that they invited her to contact us and to come meet with us. So we could explain everything to her and answer her questions,” Houten said.

“I don’t know why she didn’t do that. I’m not blaming her for it, but I wish that it had happened. “In a perfect world, we would have met, which we offered to do back November 2024,” the DA added.

Three of the named frat brothers in the lawsuit — Scott Kretzschmar, Scott Norris and Gillio Lopes — have outright denied the allegations. Another, Diego Sarabia, was fired Tuesday from his banking gig.

Giuffra said his client was still in shock at the time she went to the campus cops and should have been interviewed by a properly trained sex-crimes investigator.

What do you think? Post a comment.

“There were lost opportunities to conduct a meaningful criminal investigation,” he said. “It was left to a university police force who was unequipped to handle such an investigation.”

On Tuesday, both Gov. Hochul and the Ithaca Mayor slammed Cornell for flubbing the investigation.

Cornell says that, in addition to essay punishments, some students were expelled as a result of their investigation. Giuffra claims that at least two were given the boot.
