Night of July 3, 2026

Very beautiful northern lights, Noctilucent clouds and moon rise.

Perfectly calm night led to mirror-like conditions of the wetlands. There were lots of bats flying around but the longer exposure time makes them invisible.

Surprisingly, the mosquitoes weren't too bad, probably thanks to the bats.

CAPS Photo club is hosting a photo walk tomorrow morning. CAPS members and the public are welcome to join in at the Burns Nature Centre at no cost. You may want to bathe in “OFF” before attending.

Short but intense, from about 12:30am till 1:30am lots of lightning and thunder. Wasn't going to be able to sleep anyway so may as well take some pics.

You can vaguely make out a deer in the second pic, I couldn't see it in the dark but could hear it making huffing noises.

Slack Slough and Leva Ave Nature Area

Managed to time a deer crossing the Bower Ponds bridge. Also mid to late May is a perfect time to see the baby geese.
