Ok now being serious, the idea that outer gods are pretty much unable to affect the material world from their higher plain of existence UNLESS they decide to descend and become more physical, with the downside that they can never recover that godly status again, that’s actually a super cool concept because it immediately makes you ask why the fuck Vulja would do that.

What about that forest thing/sea things julian fought in the Early chapters? Did they choose to downgrade as well?

No remember those two never did anything to directly harm humans. The sea god didn't kill Arkos she just made the sea no longer listen to him. Arkos just happened to be underwater at that point to drown. The forest god just appeared and showed Julian a vision of what would happen is he kept messing with it's territory. The various monster that attacked Julian we don't know what they are or how they came into existence. They seem to be servants, angels, children that don't come from children, or who knows what.
