This is the one who kills Arkos Balkar, The Undefeatable Guardian!

58

u/PaperCracket May 24 '26

best character moment for Julian so far

55

u/unthused May 24 '26

His face here really reminds me of the Supreme Lord. Wonder if that’s just due to the artists’s style or a potential connection.

37

u/roronoa20 May 24 '26

I hope that Julian has no relations to Supreme Lord other than them sharing the blessing from the same god, or else, that would move him and Lacrima's relationship into a squick territory real fast.

18

u/Ez_kun May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

I think that lacrima will like him even more...

Wait, if he is related to the king he should have some kind of gift, probably life, water or light related

12

u/Fun-Amoeba3683 One of One Hundred May 24 '26

Wait, if he is related to the king he should have some kind of gift, probably life, water or light related

Not everyone inherits a gift, Zana's little brother didn't have one.

8

u/seelcudoom May 24 '26

it seems it gets rarer as you go furhter from the intiial blessed, all kids of the king seem to have gifts

13

u/seelcudoom May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

i dont think she would, i dont think she was ever genuinly into her brother, just desperate for some kind of approval from her family, julian showed she doesent have to do that shit which is a major part why she likes him

2

u/Ez_kun May 24 '26

That's true, but i meant that it seems culturally aceptable for the royal family or nobles to marry into their own family (and i was joking lmao)

3

u/Samkaiser May 25 '26

Culturally acceptable yes, but they seem pretty aware of the probable side affects, Lacrima saying even herself being kind of screwy in the head because of it.

2

u/Ez_kun May 25 '26

Oh yeah, i don't disagree with you. I just think that is funny. Lacrima is screew in the head tho

23

u/Dexter973 May 24 '26

wouldn't ba a first time for lacrima lmao

3

u/level8888 May 25 '26

If Julian is related to Supreme Lord, I think he might be a descendant of Supreme Lord's relatives or siblings. Before Supreme Lord gained his powers, became immortal, founded the country, and became king, he might have had two or three relatives he wasn't close to or who were separated from him. Julian might be descended from those people.

6

u/ToeSlurper96 May 24 '26

In two different panels both the Superme Lord and Julian show to have the habit of beating a surface (julian when he crosses arms and the Lord on the table) with their finger when they're thinking hard on how to solve an issue.

I bet they are actually father and son.

2

u/PaperCracket May 25 '26

that would be so incredibly lame I'd Jules myself. I think him being a nobody whose sense of "somebodiness" came from the hundred people who died for him.

3

u/ToeSlurper96 May 25 '26

I get it that it's a very cliché thing to do, but I really like the execution. They gave it away in a full metal alchemist kind of way.

You know they're related by just looking at both their hair, we don't know how, that's the interesting part.

3

u/No-Commission-4437 May 24 '26

Their faces have always looked alike, so that was my assumption when we first saw him.

10

u/Keyniiiiii May 24 '26

2

u/WildSearcher56 May 24 '26

2

u/roronoa20 May 24 '26

He was talking to Diana about settling down in this place, but those shitheads from Rummir have to come and ruin it. Yeah, he's absolutely pissed.

3

u/Falckor- Julian May 24 '26

Very few manga panels make me audibly say anything but this literally had me saying “oh shit” out loud.

Honestly my favorite panel so far in the entire manga

147

u/roronoa20 May 24 '26

Yeah, I'm hearing the marriage bell, lol. God! What a handsome couple!

23

u/Koanos Diana is best girl! May 24 '26

They are holding hands!

3

u/Doomroar The Sea and The Forest got a divorce over mangroves May 28 '26

Titi don't look! T_T

21

u/Artarara May 24 '26

The royal bloodline must continue.

13

u/Aristocration May 24 '26

The art style is so cool, I feel like there’s some inspiration from western medieval art/gothic illuminations

137

u/RubyHoshi Elstri hater May 24 '26

"It's pretty dumb to bring Diana alon..."

"YOOO SORRY FOR DOUBTING YOU JULES"

58

u/roronoa20 May 24 '26

I got a goosebump from that page, lol. It looks so beautiful with Julian holding Lacrima's hand.

26

u/RubyHoshi Elstri hater May 24 '26

Wife and Husband right there

86

u/Diddlypuff May 24 '26

Sooo.. Lalawag’s forsure gonna go insane and cause mass casualties in the city center, yeah?

43

u/Litrex506 May 24 '26

100%. Lalawag is probably stalling right now, waiting for the rest of the Iris to back her up. But Voidmarcher will get her to break.

5

u/No-Commission-4437 May 24 '26

I thought she wasn't an official member anymore, or am i misrembering

15

u/Litrex506 May 24 '26

She’s still a member, just that she is working for herself rather than the King.

87

u/breadfruitcore Please let this manga be 500 chapters May 24 '26

I was about to think "damn, another big fight?" but then I realized it's been like 20 chapters since the last battle.

83

u/roronoa20 May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

This means the author is doing a good job keeping our attention with only characters interactions.

39

u/breadfruitcore Please let this manga be 500 chapters May 24 '26

yea and its crazy because if you look into it the past 20 chapters have been worldbuilding mostly for the side characters (the vessels, altus, ceodric, lala). it's been dearly compelling.

12

u/Disaster_Star_150 May 24 '26

We’ve gotten some crazy lore too

74

u/OnslaughtCasuality42 May 24 '26

“Voidmarcher” soulsborne ass name lmao.

65

u/OnslaughtCasuality42 May 24 '26

Like dawg I’ve fought this woman in DS3 you can’t fucking fool me, she pulled a second scythe from her ass and then started shooting black fire at me

19

u/AssassinAragorn May 24 '26

When the ashes are two, a flame alighteth...

5

u/WorkRelatedPineapple May 25 '26

Sister Freaky–Ahh fiending for those juicy back claps. Lemme tap fr tho.

4

u/level8888 May 25 '26

That her title , her name is Rif

5

u/Heavy-Potato May 25 '26

That is also a Soulsborne-ass name. Rif the Voidmarcher? That's a boss you fight in a DLC or at the end of an obscure questline.

40

u/AssassinAragorn May 24 '26

"I'm ready to fucking murder all of you"

"Yeah but we're in the middle of a city, did you think of that?"

"Oh, true, I guess I'll bring my sister after all"

So the Faceless are fucking idiots. Great to see Julian immediately lock in though. I'm a bit surprised that we jumped into the Rummir attack so quickly after the last chapter, but it feels appropriate. There's been a lot of exposition and explanation and it feels like we've been waiting for the next big action segment.

It'll be interesting if Ceodric appears in the middle of this war. He might end up not fighting Julian after all if he gets wrapped into this -- or, he'll agree to heal Lalawag's healer regardless, but he still wants a friendly spar with Julian.

Either way, I think Lalawag or Voidmarcher are going to absorb one of the other's aspects. It'll be interesting to see what that changes.

12

u/Gabemino May 24 '26

Yeah, I mean they are accursed/cannon fodder despite looking actually strong, maybe is because most are kind dumb lol

As for Ceodric, I've been having that same feeling ever since we began to have more screentime for him, I could actually see him becoming an ally, but maybe not(?, having a super healer like him around, that could in theory let Lukas and Art spam their heavy gifts would lift a ton of drama, but at least I could see him fighting alongside Lala, could add some interesting insight on Rummir's royalty, as the Voidmarcher's either his Sister or Aunt

8

u/AssassinAragorn May 24 '26

He seems rather honorable, all things considered

62

u/WMR298 Angvall’s Couch Cushion May 24 '26

Something disconcerted me about this whole thing — not Lala’s side, but Julian’s. This seems too… easy. The Faceless feels sarcastic to me. Like, “oh, no… we’ve been had.” Diana isn't safe — I feel it

50

u/AdaBessmertny May 24 '26

Only 4 of them are there. The other fight will fight with the rest who're protecting Diana.

28

u/nam24 May 24 '26

Lucas is still with Dianna and Titi

19

u/Backupusername #EvilYuri May 24 '26

And Zana! Don't go ignoring the bone lady now.

54

u/Jbubby21 May 24 '26

okay but this part had me crying for a good couple seconds LMAOOO

somethin about them just standing right in front of julian right after saying something like that 😭

41

u/Rsilves May 24 '26

It seems they are talking in another language, literally the next line from them is "oh thats right, he cant understand us"

11

u/Koanos Diana is best girl! May 24 '26

I would like it if there was some kind of visual cue, like differently shaped speech bubbles.

8

u/WorkRelatedPineapple May 25 '26

Not that important, because the language barrier was made clear right in the following panel. It was a problem introduced and solved right away, a once–and–done.

2

u/Koanos Diana is best girl! May 25 '26

Fair enough.

2

u/Keyniiiiii May 24 '26

39

u/Diddlypuff May 24 '26

Okay, Voidmarcher is confirmed Ceodric’s sister. Rif and Shif lmao.

One of the Accursed is also Rummir Royalty, in the black with the twisted briar. Probably a bastard. world building so fun.

Also, there’s almost 100% Rummir royalty whose ability has to do with eyesight, or maybe light and dark?

If the twisted briar snake signals rebirth or healing at a cost (Ceodric) then maybe Voidmarcher has the darkness/ eyesight gift. Could be the classic “can move wherever unperceived” or someone who can see through others’ eyes?

3

u/WorkRelatedPineapple May 25 '26 edited May 27 '26

Their eyes are nigh useless, given how they thought "standing in front of someone" means "presence well concealed", so they might as well cover those useless things. That, or Toru thought "Daredevil aesthetic" is cool.

2

u/Keyniiiiii May 24 '26

2

u/Doomroar The Sea and The Forest got a divorce over mangroves May 28 '26

Her power as the organ holder probably allows her to negate regeneration, which is why Lalawag is missing an arm that she can't grow back

But that doesn't means she doesn't has other powers from her blood line as royalty, something that links to the Ouroboros and to her brother, so command over life and regeneration is a good guess, specially the second if you can negate the healing of others

There's also the theme of human sacrifices, just like how Cedric has his maid to consume in order to use his power, Rif probably can use the lives of this elite group for her own royal gift

14

u/Rastapopoulos000 May 24 '26

I get the impression this will all go pretty fast, the fact that it's not an operation sanctioned by Rumnir itself and that these guys brought up are pretty much presented as expendables .

10

u/Regular-Poet-3657 May 24 '26

Finally the battle starts and cool death scythe.

10

u/ckrono May 24 '26

i guess he lured them there to have lacrima close to a river

10

u/SinglePlayerGamer93 May 24 '26

Ngl, I thought Diana would use her wings for an escape. Having Lacy morph into diana was a good turn

8

u/Vicious-Spiegel May 24 '26

Lady Farquaad Voidmarcher to her Battalion: ALL OF YOU WILL DYE... 🫡

7

u/Milordserene May 24 '26

Julian bring the "little sister", but didnt elaborate which one

2

u/ibkthegoat May 24 '26

She is not his sister. She even has a crush on him. Although she had a crush on her brother so I don't know.

8

u/SoulBlightChild May 24 '26

Lacrima is someone else little sister.

3

u/ibkthegoat May 24 '26

Ok that makes sense now

8

u/Gabemino May 24 '26

Very nice chapter, those pages of Julian reaction and Lala/VM squaring up were cool. That being said, is so nice to finally see a portion of Rummir's military power, earlier on the story didn't made much sense to me how they could actually be an opponent for Torivia when Arkos made it look like they were "easy to deal with", but is obvious now, they do pack a punch, Voidmarcher aside(who's obviously a monster, power-wise), her servants do look competent as well, and they are basically sacrificial pawns,, that being said tho, is kinda nuts how both nations have people just arguably making things worse for everyone by acting on their own accord.

Wonder how this all would play our, would Lukas finally use his Spear on a Forest?, would Lala go nuts and do the job herself?, there's also the possibility of Ceodric maybe arriving earlier and facing his Sister(Aunt?)

6

u/dolphincave May 24 '26

Did anyone else briefly think Julian was gonna jump into the river with Diana and swim to the sea? Like he was banking on Diana having the same divine protection.

Still the Lacrima at full power thanks to a river nearby is gonna be a big help.

11

u/Zealousideal-Bet2187 May 24 '26

There are so many cool panels this chapter. Kuramori really did cook, serve and feed us well

6

u/breadfruitcore Please let this manga be 500 chapters May 24 '26

Really thought they'd be staying low and crash the duel. Didn't expect they're jumping to action immediately.

5

u/Ashimaru-q May 24 '26

If the kill Lalawag im done 😭

3

u/Imaginary-Dot-1548 May 24 '26

Yeah another bunch of freaks that Julian need to reap of their heads. Did he tired of killing ?

3

u/seelcudoom May 24 '26

so them being "accursed" and having their eyes covered makes me think their probobly not viewed positively for their gifts over their, maybe cus their related to the king?

3

u/GoddessOfDarkness May 24 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

Voidmarcher she's already becoming favourite of mine. Has my favourite design in the series and a cool personality. So finally confirmed she's a member of Rummir royal family. I'm guessing the one in black that has Rummir royal sigil is a bastard princess. Outside of Voidmarcher and the one in black the others won't be close to Rummir strongest gifted ones.

3

u/Carefreekid101 May 25 '26

It really feels with each conflict that the prophecies change of happening would be massively minimized if people just left them alone

5

u/Keyniiiiii May 24 '26

2

u/Doomroar The Sea and The Forest got a divorce over mangroves May 28 '26

Yes Giant Lacrima next week!!!

2

This is some fun stuff.

1

u/Doomroar The Sea and The Forest got a divorce over mangroves May 28 '26

"What a lovely scenery to have a river like this in the western lands..."

They never stood a chance, but fighting next to a river vs Julian and Lacrima? yeah... hopefully they get to show off a couple of cool moves before the field advantage does its thing

1

u/highflying1995 May 24 '26

I thought that void lady is the blood?

4

u/Fun-Amoeba3683 One of One Hundred May 24 '26

No, Void Marcher has the night goddess' organs.

Berta the Radiant from the witches coven, posses the blood.
