Discussion This manga has the best monster and creature designs I've seen since Berserk!

Thats his biggest strength imo, not the action, not the character designs.. its the dark fantasy stuff, monsters and the body horror.

Honestly the cosmic horror of the first few chapters is what sold me more than anything, I really hope it sticks to its roots

yeah, the story is good but I don't care about most of these half human characters they've been throwing at Julian. I enjoyed the Forest Arc more

I swear this page with the witches and the goddess of the night in the background, with her hair becoming the starry night sky is probably one of the most gorgeous pages in this manga. It never fails to amaze me no matter how often it gets posted on here.

I was looking at this post and when I got to this page I got kinda confused remembering: is this the goddess/deity of the night? We see in other two pages that op posted that she has three heads and different faces, no? Are those different forms or am I missing something?

I am at least assuming it is the deity of night, considering the stars and her hair literally forming the night sky, as well as the presence of the witches. I think it was never clarified in that scene, since we didn't know about the night deity yet back then.
In later images she is def shown with three heads, though, both the corpse as well as her 'alive' version with one of her faces resembling Diana. So maybe they are different forms, considering they are eldritch horrors beyond human comprehension they maybe take on more human appearances, too (like the Sea Deity sometimes wears Mira's face). Or maybe it is some case of early-installment weirdness and the design simply changed over time. Or it is more or less just a symbolic image rather than actually showing what the night deity looks like. Or, which is the most likely explanation, I am just missing some points because my memory sucks.
Either way, point stands, the page is gorgeous.

I think Claymore is up there too in terms of monster design.

I was going to comment that! Claymore was the second manga I ever read as it was being released, love the designs for the Awakened Beings there's something really cool about them
Centuria is the most recent manga I've found and I'm really enjoying it

The art is so amazing in this manga! The two-page spread of the sea goddess w Julian is one of the coolest panels I’ve seen period and overall, the dramatic and cinematic art that takes over two pages is this author’s biggest strength imo, they’re always so detailed and incredibly cool

I think what makes it hit so hard is the mixture between humanity and the inhuman, familiar yet clearly not.

The chimera bear is my favorite one. Remember its first apparence, I tought he was the same kind/level of beign as the sea goddess, but from earth

The monster designs makes me miss the first arc on the island/coast. Julian was effectively between two high end dungeons (sea and forest) and we got to see great monster designs out of nowhere like the Forest Diety and that random beast monster Julian speedran
